My concern is what happens when Darcy gets injured, Jackson covers and we are one short in the forward line. We really need another forward/ ruck. Any mature age players out their tearing it up in the second tier?
Meek was always a solid player coming in, played the role really well and didn’t look out of place.

Treacy will be one happy boy. Lobb leaving opens the door for him to move into the team. Fingers crossed he is the real deal because his first season was outstanding before being hit by illness and injury in 2022.

Hard to regret someone who couldn't get a game and has only played 15 games in five years.
Unfortunately Meek is not as good a ruckman as Darcy, was not as good a forward as Lobb, and is not as good a footballer as Jackson.
He does deserve a chance to be playing more regularly though and hope things work out for him at Hawthorn.

RM, we 'lost' Meek because we weren't playing him and weren't go to play him next year. Yeah sure we could have kept him for insurance but it would have been very unfair when he could double his salary and get triple the game time elsewhere. That sort of behaviour would make Freo the opposition of a destination club.

I reckon also losing that future 2nd rounder for JOM will be a bigger mistake when we look at who we end up missing out on because of it, it will be a gun west aussie. Unless JOM plays 20 blinders a year for us for at least three years (fingers crossed), that was a carp trade.
