Sorry Zorro, but I strongly disagree. For any game, you should only wear your club colours/gear if they're actually playing. I saw a lady wearing all Adelaide gear at Optus this year to a Freo vs GWS (I think) game....Tool....

Sure, but that’s a home and away game. The GF is different. Why does each club get a ticket allocation whether they’re playing or not? (Sure, I know they make serious money from them, but that’s not the point). Why do people fly in from all over the country, whether their team is playing or not.
It’s a party everyone is invited to, and you get to wear your favourite colour to it.

People are free to wear whatever they want. No-one is going to turn you away at the ground.

But you can’t be free of the judgement of others, and on this issue you will receive mixed opinions.

Only about a third of the Grand Final crowd are competing club members, and that’s never sat comfortably with me. As a neutral I personally wouldn’t want to advertise so explicitly that I supported a team not playing because I feel it would be advertising that I was depriving a competing club supporter of the chance to witness what could be a once-in-a-lifetime event for them.

I’d feel like a tourist.

It's not a faux pas if your team is not playing in that sport or competition though. Like, if you wore an Inter Milan shirt to a WAFL game no-one will think poorly of you for doing that.

You'll see many East Fremantle fans wearing their West Coast colours at the WAFL game today. And that's fine. Many of the founding Eagles were from East Fremantle and the Eagles were winning at the time. So no-one could think less of them. You really can't.

Think less of them. All of them.
