But they'll need a few more pronouns after this winters feasting.

You know, I've heard about the lunar orbit wobble and the effect it has on mangrove mortality, but the whole notion of asking to be traded to North Melbourne totally flummoxes me. Seriously - I mean, look at their playing list and ask yourself "do I want that mongrel mob as my teammates?"

Because he's guaranteed to get a game each week and get paid really well.

Top class players don't ask to be traded to clubs like North Melbourne.

He's Dan Bandy. Better than Dan Bandy. I thought Bandy played some serviceable games. But he's not a player you pay above 500k a year.

If he gets 500k what is Darcy, Serong, Brayshaw, Chapman, Clarke, Cox worth? You wake up one day and you are Collingwood dumping top end talent everywhere.

We've could have kept Acres and Logue. We made the call not to. Don't forget that.

Except we found spots for Logue in the 22 even when he wasn't deserving of them and offered to pay him $500K per year for 4 years. And he still turned us down.

Walter, please reference my previous reply to you on how much salary cap room and trade capital there is for the Jackson trade. I can summarise again below:

I) Jackson is being offered around $7-800K. Logue was offered $500K so there's a large portion of the cash for Jackson with Logue out the door instead of Lobb. Then you can add in the salaries of Mundy, Acres and Tucker who would have been on a bit. Monetarily, it's not a problem fitting him in the salary cap.

Trade wise, we still have our first round picks for this and next year which IMO should get it done. I know the media are going to blow it up and pretend like the OOFTIT's have a shot but we have Logue, Acres and Tucker out the door bringing us more picks.

II) Jackson is not a stay at home forward and is fantastic roaming the ground. I've mentioned this numerous times and linked articles explaining how Freo are likely to use him. Lobb will be the stay at home forward with Amiss, Tabs will most likely be a lead up forward. Jackson will rotate through the middle.

Well, if we did offer Logue 500 x 4, looks like CY certainly worked some magic at NM, probably heavily front loaded years 1 & 2.

Thanks Biz.
My only reservation regarding your explanation is that we will need tp keep a few $$$ in reserve to address the understandable increase in payments that will be expected by existing players. We have a lot of young guys who are on low contracts but will soon be expecting to cash in on their current performances. Young, Serong, Brayshaw, Chapman etc, etc. Schultz is a prime example as he is currently listed as a "rookie" (and don't get me started on the nonsense of that list category!!). There will be plenty of teams that will be after him for his next contract.

If we throw the farm at Jackson (even if it is partly offset by Logue and Acres going) we may put ourselves at risk of losing young talent sometime in the next few years when we are peaking. Perhaps this concern will be negated by the imminent end of Fyfe's current mega-deal and the salary cap increase that is expected to flow on from the new TV rights deal, but all clubs will get the latter and they will be chasing our boys if we continue to show the type of improvement that we have over the last two years.

In summary, I expect the club to make good decisions that take into account information that we are not privy to, however, that's what WCE fans would have expected ahead of the Tim Kelly deal. That said, recent history (the last 2-3 years) would show that we have done very well with trades and drafts so I'm hopeful that this will continue.
