That would be perfect. He's a fine player. He is perfect, exactly what we need.

Mundy out of our midfield is huge loss. His ability to hit a lead up target with precision into our forward is hard to replace. Whilst Thomas is no Mundy I think he can provide that elite disposal whilst also shifting forward and being a dangerous player in the air and at ground level. Ask the question.

does the Club want Logue to stay, or do ya reckon it's just a hardball negotiation tactic?

According to Walls, they're still trying to convince Logue to stay. If he did, they'd probably let Lobb go and play with Tabs/Amiss/Logue as the tall targets forward with Logue able to swing back when needed. I imagine they're trying to convince Logue to stay considering compensation for him will be pretty low.

On Logue, he said the club remained in conversations with the versatile big man, who excelled in both key defensive and forward roles this year but has fallen out of contract.

"We haven't given up hope yet. He's indicated that he wants to go to North, but we'd like to see that through and I don't think that will happen straight away," Walls said.
"We just rate Griffin so highly. He finished sixth in our Doig Medal on Saturday night, so it's really been what position he can play. We're working with that on Griff to sell where potentially he can play."
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

We've stuffed up Griff's contract dealings big time and now look like paying a hefty price for it. If he goes to North we lose because what they're offering is not fair compensation especially since they're reported to be offering up to $3 million over 5 years and only parting with a future 2nd round pick. Plus he was a top 10 pick when drafted.
If he stays we probably pay overs to get him to change his mind. If we gave him a better deal earlier it would have been cheaper. It all changed after the game where he held Jeremy Cameron goalless and yet Brandon Walker was getting games ahead of him despite the fact that Griff had many more capabilities than him. I'm not knocking Walker but he has looked very shaky on quite a few occasions, none more so than in our loss to the Pies in the finals.

Logue and Walker to me aren’t a good comparison.

A lot of our younger guys had shaky moments in big games this year, so it’s a bit harsh on Walker to identify one game where you thought he didn’t play well.

Walker is a good player in the making, very steady, keeps his head up and generally is efficient in his play.

You must be kidding- walker had more than a few weak moments- he was at times a one man self destruction machine.
Nothing epitomised his non decision when he was running into goals against the pies and was 30 mtrs out and in the clear and lacked confidence or football brains to simply have a shot at goals . Instead he passed to a contested situation in the goal square !

The saving grace is he is only 19, and hopefully he can work in the off season on his consistent fumbles and double handling of the ball .

I hope he becomes a star , as the selection committee picked him over Logue.

Freo has worked so hard in assembling a team capable of playing finals, it is sad that other parts of the administration have not been at the same level as recruiting.

It takes every department to do their job , otherwise you will not likely contend.

There are plenty of freo apologists, and fair enough, I get the love, but there are still parts of the organisation that are far from elite.

Longmuir and the selection committee got it wrong on prioritising walker over Logue.

Gumnut, not sure how you think Walker was keeping Logue out of the backline, Chapman was the one who took the 3rd tall/Medium role at the expense of Logue.
If you had said Walker was keeping Wilson out if the backline I’d agree with you, but not Logue.

It was Griff who shut down Cameron when we played Brisbane because our other smaller defenders, Walker included, couldn't get the job done.
And by the way, I do think Brandon has a huge career ahead of him in purple just as long as he becomes a bit more decisive and reduces the number of clangers that he commits that result in opposition goals.

Exceed, unfortunately I think Walker was doing what he what he's is coached to do; look for mark in the 50 arc.

It frustrates me too, why not have a bloody shot? The coaches theory is if the shot is missed the opposition will play on out of the square and get it straight back down the other end, which often eventuates. A mark in the 50 allows the kicker to take 30 seconds and for the rest of the team to press up, zone off and lock it in if the shot on goal is a point. Whether you agree with the coaching or not is up to you but I think this explains what looks like a brain explosion.

For mine, I like players like NOD hat just have a shot, but I bet they aren't following the game plan when they do.

Yes, he had an absolute shocker against the pies but I think he will be a near unstoppable HBF for us for many years when it all clicks.

Do you guys watch the footy? How do you think Logue is in any way comparable and fighting for a position in the side against Walker? It's a ridiculous premise and just picking on a kid who had a rough game on the big stage. Logue isn't a small defender and would never touch on Walker's position in the side. He was competing with Pearce and Cox for a key position roll and to a lesser extent, Ryan and Chapman to be the third tall.

Also, it's been very overplayed as to how well Logue performed. Jeremy Cameron went goalless against us because he was playing up on a wing for most of the game while Logue didn't have to deal with him much anywhere near goals.

Logue never played on Charlie Cameron when we played Brisbane. He played as a defensive forward and was on the opposite side of the ground for the whole game. Logue kicked 2 goals after being given a joe the goose or two.

That is, indeed, Beacon Award holder, Brandon Walker.

I have a funny feeling Logue will still be plating neither forward or back at the stadium-soon-to-be-formerly-known-as Optus in 2023.
