Morgan is spot on. The thinking that takes our best and dominant ruckman out of the middle baffles me. Especially when the alternate has only ever been OK. Let's smash them in the middle off the back of Darcy's dominance and pepper our forwardline with inside 50's. Put someone forward who can bring it to ground and let the smalls do their job. Play the game in our front half.

The last thing I want to see is Darcy starved of the footy at full forward while GWS are winning it out of the middle or Darcy jogging around chasing defenders as GWS chip it around their back half.

If Freo get themselves in an 'un-loseable' position, then maybe giving Darcy a nice rest up forward or even on the bench might help catch his breath come finals.

That said, there is the week off next week, and I think Freo should be aiming to finish the game strongly to get themselves into form and the right mindset.

In all likelihood, we're playing and elimination final next, otherwise we're playing Geelong. Either way, we need to be at our best, and this is the last game to get prepped.

I think Freo weighed up losing this game against the next and decided to err on the side of the finals. We could go all out, win on the frozen tundra of Canberra and still miss out of the double chance - if we've got to take a loss, it's better this week because we can't finish lower than where we are. But then again, Leadfoot Lloyd has to be a better selection than Two Mark One Behind Lobby.
