To hear about this stuff is just awful. Football, professional or otherwise, isn't some kind of stupid Navy Seals operation that condones the belittlement of your team members to prepare them to execute their opposition. It just isn't.
I would've thought - as most would believe - that there were enough checks/balances in the system to stop some yahoo fools from playing power-over exercises before they happen. But apparently not - if there is a system it's an illusory construct. That's super disappointing on so many levels I can't even begin to unpick it.
I grew up laughing at those Hollywood movies of US Marine 'grunts' getting yelled at by their drill sergeant - as if one of them wouldn't lean forward and bite the knob's nose off. Then you see the ridiculous 'power stance' line-up before the bounce that Adelaide did thinking they might as well drop their daks and stuff their thumbs in their bums. It's just stupid to think that anyone could come up with such an embarrassing idea.
That camp hurt people in a serious way, a very very serious way. Years later it still affects Eddie - the Crows, the AwFL, the ALFPA need to seriously fix this fast.
