Corporal Agarn
Get off Henry's back. I've never seen a young bloke get so much negative and tonight, unwarranted criticism. 17 disposals, 5 marks and 3 tackles. Actually the most of any of our forwards. Although he did spend more time on the wing and only a couple less disposals than Acres. There were were far more experienced players who were a lot worse than him tonight. I'd play him over Colyer any day of the week.

So Acres did well to lay a "hard" tackle late in the game? Where was he for the previous 3 1/2 quarters? Keeping his jumper clean for next year? Henry put his body on the line against bigger opponents all night, won his share of the footy, and showed why the coaches (and some on D/L) have faith in him. His disposal is elite, and intuitive, something we lack.

Walters? drop him? You boofheads.

The answer, when the question is opposition spread to take up space, has never been to stop and move it long and high and slow to contested packs.

Never.

Yet, Freo do over and over again.

Not smart.

Name me a team in history competing for top 4 that comes out on a Friday night at their home ground and kicks 5 goals? It’s really bad.

Ok, fair enough. But name me a defender that messes up Fritsch's hairdoo over and over in the goal square like Luke Ryan did - a highlight on Friday night.

FreoLifer. I’ve never said that umpires can’t influence the outcome of the game, nor did I say that the umpiring was good last night. I’m simply stating that the if anyone thinks the umpires were the reason for our loss last night they are looking for excuses. We couldn’t have won that game even if the umps favoured us. We were totally outplayed. That’s what we should be concerned about.

(And one more for those who can’t avoid focussing on the umps - I didn’t see too many comments from you when the umps saved us, not once but twice in the last two minutes, from losing to Richmond last round!
... and the predictable response will be”we would have won if we had got a free at some time before that .... blah blah blah”.)

The umps have good games and bad games (swings and roundabouts) but I’d prefer to watch the footy and not hate at every opportunity.

Let the pile on begin!

I don't think the umps saved us in that game, Fredericks, and a dumb move by a Richmond player did that. To say that Melbourne would have won if Freo had've been allowed a fair crack of the footy is taking a wild guess.

Hypen is right again, the coaching is appearing to be the weak point. We have the players.

At least 9 out of 10 of our backline exits go down the left wing - for 2 of the 4 quarters last night that was the soggy side of the ground. If our opposition knows this, and which side with/without Chocko in their coaching group wouldn't, all you would need to do is get an extra player to the contest and hold your feet. Which they did.

If you can't move the ball, the other side will. It's not complex - spilling the ball over the boundary isn't going to win any contest if you're a few goals behind. It's become very predictable and laborious - our opposition can read it as simply as those watching the game.

I got to the stadium a bit early yesterday and kept my eye on what Chocko was doing while the DeeDums were practicing their shots for goal. He was wandering up and down the wing checking out the ground and testing out how far the replacement turf extended. Smart fella.

And who were our exits going to? Travis Colyer seemed to be the lead up forward.

I'm not sure we do have the players.....?

We've got to face this harsh reality....

We've been relying on B grade players 'outperforming', and, currently many of them are not.

We have :
* some tiring/injured 'A-graders (Fyfe Mundy Walters, maybe, Pearce),

* Some seriously good young - but tired 'talent' (Brayshaw, Darcy, Serong, Chapman & Young, and perhaps Brodie). Maybe - maybe - Freddie & Henry are incuded here..

* A few blokes more concerned about where they'll be playing next year ( Lobb, Acres , Logue )

* a whole lot of B graders that we are relying on "outperforming" (Acres, Colyer , Aish, Schulz, Switowski, Tabs, Clarke, Banfield, Tucker, Treacy, Crowden, Meek, Walker)

Except for Luke Ryan, I cant think of any player on the current list who isn't struggling with form tiredness, or a "niggle type" injury.

Growth comes from Erasmus , Johnson & Amyss (I have no idea why we are not playing Erasmus?), but they are at least 2 years away from being 'good reliable afl footballers.

I mistakingly thought at an earlier point in the year that we had 'depth".

We really don't.

Our current 'replacements' look like Tucker, Erasmus , Crowden , Wilson, Meek, Hughes, maybe, Sturt., maybe Worner. None of them are turning our current team into somethng dramatically different.

We continue to have the same problem : ie A distinct lack of 2 reliable tall forwards, and, at least one genuine a-grade midfielder short. And, for the first time, in as long as I can remember at Fremantle, we are playing without a genuine, ridgy-didge, "pick pocket" small forward.

Its Grondhog Day. Again.!!

Hayden Young. He was sublime. Our Brayshaw is by far the better of the two.
Our back line held up as much as they could against awesome forward line disposals, pressure and great wet weather marking. Mundy had some great disposals but kicked the ball OOTF 5 times. Walker created some excitement if nothing else. The rest need a break.
Oh and umpires were the worst I’ve seen for a very long time. Atrocious.

The worst thing about losing Friday games (apart from lack of footy busses), is having to go through the weekend, that you’ve been hanging out for all week, knowing your team were crap. There’s a lot to like about the Sunday arvo games!

You should've been on the bus with me FD - TransPerth stepped up big time, finding Beaufort Street brought a bigger cheer than Mikey's first goal.
