I'm not sure we do have the players.....?
We've got to face this harsh reality....
We've been relying on B grade players 'outperforming', and, currently many of them are not.
We have :
* some tiring/injured 'A-graders (Fyfe Mundy Walters, maybe, Pearce),
* Some seriously good young - but tired 'talent' (Brayshaw, Darcy, Serong, Chapman & Young, and perhaps Brodie). Maybe - maybe - Freddie & Henry are incuded here..
* A few blokes more concerned about where they'll be playing next year ( Lobb, Acres , Logue )
* a whole lot of B graders that we are relying on "outperforming" (Acres, Colyer , Aish, Schulz, Switowski, Tabs, Clarke, Banfield, Tucker, Treacy, Crowden, Meek, Walker)
Except for Luke Ryan, I cant think of any player on the current list who isn't struggling with form tiredness, or a "niggle type" injury.
Growth comes from Erasmus , Johnson & Amyss (I have no idea why we are not playing Erasmus?), but they are at least 2 years away from being 'good reliable afl footballers.
I mistakingly thought at an earlier point in the year that we had 'depth".
We really don't.
Our current 'replacements' look like Tucker, Erasmus , Crowden , Wilson, Meek, Hughes, maybe, Sturt., maybe Worner. None of them are turning our current team into somethng dramatically different.
We continue to have the same problem : ie A distinct lack of 2 reliable tall forwards, and, at least one genuine a-grade midfielder short. And, for the first time, in as long as I can remember at Fremantle, we are playing without a genuine, ridgy-didge, "pick pocket" small forward.
Its Grondhog Day. Again.!!
