Logue’s best position has become a dilemma for the tram.
I appreciate that he was a good physical match up for Curnow (who still managed a good bag) and he may not be needed down back once Chapman returns, but I think he would have been very handy up front yesterday as we lacked presence and couldn’t hold the ball in our forward 50. Maybe it’s a case of horses for courses but I think opposition teams would be more worried about him marking in the front half than spoiling in the back half. He would also be expected to improve as a forward if he had a few consecutive weeks in the role.

A couple of thoughts about this start with the premise we get Chappy back. Logue brings pace and height to our forward line which gives our smalls crumbing opportunities. I don’t think we need Tabs in our top side which is all about pressure and pace. Given that we played around with our midfield engine room by putting Serong in a bloody wing exposing the lack of pace/rebound and form of Fyfe/Mundy, we don’t need to do much else except hope that Blake returns ASAP.

Tabs was the only one who kept us in it till half time. He’s a very important part of the team. As for our other forwards, they never got an opportunity. The ball was hardly ever in our forward half. Our backline was as good as it could possibly be. They just got swamped and could no longer hold out

If Logue or Tabs we’re the issue yesterday I wasn’t watching.
We were scratchy and two touch all day. Ryan and Cox took very few intercepts. Darcy was beaten for athleticism by DeKoning, and wasn’t his usual self for contested marks. Fyfe and Mundy offered very little and were well beaten. Shultz had a shocking first half.
Carlton were cleaner, more aggressive and more assertive all day. They achieved what we have all year, each and every player was on.
On a positive great to see Henry may be about to be ready for the level.

Best for Logue or best for the team?

The best spot for Logue is the role that Cox or Ryan (and eventually Chapman) plays. He’s just not the best at it in our team.

The best for Freo depends on who we’re playing and who is injured.

Logue has turned into a utility player for Freo. That’s useful for Freo but not for Logue. Being a jack of all trades and a master of none is not the path to a healthy, long-term contract. Just ask James Aish. There’s a reason he’s at his third club and it’s not because he doesn’t have the talent to play the game.

Walters is ready to come back in. Where does he fit?
Does Fred or Schultz come out? It would probably be Fred, but As much as I love the Sgt.s endeavour, he can sometimes over commit himself to the contest ( a fault that Ballas used to have).
I really don’t have an answer to this one other than I think Fred is the most likely to miss out if only for his inexperience
