Bowers is under investigation for an off the ball incident. The vision is far from conclusive and it could be argued that the opponent was winded rather than hit high. But the opposition coach (Nathan Burke) is making sure that it doesn't go unnoticed. It might come down the a medical report on the nature of the impact?

I saw no head contact in that so it'll be interesting to see what the Dogs report. You couldn't charge anyone off that footage, it's a blocking off the ball free kick missed by the umpire that Burke has had a whine about to draw attention from the tackle on Sargeant.

The incident was graded as intentional with medium impact and high contact.

The reasoning for the penalty is detailed below. The one thing that I can accept is that it was a long way off the ball but that doesn’t seem to be considered as part of the penalty matrix.

Where was the high contact? Turbo is half a foot shorter and never left the ground, bracing for contact. On top of that, the Dogs player had her arms out in front which appear to be what took the brunt of the force rather than anything else. The only possible high contact was when the dogs player hit the ground.

We lose nothing by challenging this in any case as apparently there's no discount for a guilty plea. 2 weeks for a blocking free kick seems outrageous.

That's huge - the block and the penalty (because Bowers is impossible to replace). But...ok, I really enjoyed that video - if I ever get into a church I'll seek forgiveness.

I assume the penalty is two games and not two weeks (which could be three + games).
