That sounds like we have plenty of tall backs but can’t get them on the park, which doesn’t sound like a recruiting problem but a injury management issue. At the other end of the field we had a scarcity of tall forwards - that is a recruiting problem.

I can't work out why we took Benning without a bid and held a pick over when we could get him straight onto the rookie list and hold the main list position.

Did they really just not rate anyone left available and not want to add anyone else to the list this off season? Williams is a big missed opportunity as someone a couple of days from being ineligible for this draft due to being to young and then likely to have been a first round pick next year.

Glad I wasn’t alone in that quandary Biz, I think they must have known WC we’re going to bid on him and wanted someone else as a Rookie so wanted to keep a spot open. Whoever they have in mind they must rank higher than Williams.

My only thought is that they aren't going to fill that final position while leaving it open to take a player as a SPP or in the mid season draft. However I'd much prefer to get a kid or mature age player in the program asap and worry about the rest if we cop any injuries.

All that being said, the ESPN website provided a review of the draft and we along with GWS were the only teams to receive an A plus rating. West Coast received a D plus. It's always good when the club is spoken about in a positive manner by those external to the club.
