People on here are so critical of the club, the club puts out its strategic objectives and it gets ridiculed. At the outset of the document the CEO and President acknowledged that as a club we haven't delivered on our potential for much of the clubs existence. Whilst it may be stating the bleeding obvious, I found it refreshing that there was such an acknowledgment and they are hell bent changing perceptions of the club and forging a new narrative.
The club has clearly identified we are on the up and up, so they have now publicly stated one of their strategic objectives is to win at least one AFL/AFLW premiership. Whats the matter with that? Premiership window ring a bell? You haven't heard that statement like that for quite some time I would suggest because we have not been in a position to back that strategic objective up. Yes I agree, we, along with all other AFL/W clubs, should be striving for the ultimate success each and every season, however, we have not been in a position to do so since 2016 for a variety of reasons. Therefore it would be foolish to state publicly we are aiming for a top four spot if we are in a rebuilding phase, however, internally the clubs objective is to strive to finish as high as possible on the ladder.
I see Shane has gone all Greta Thunberg and is now criticising the club as having Woodside as a principal sponsor. They have been a club sponsor since 2010 and I don't recall too much criticism coming the clubs way or to Woodside themselves considering the have been providing the club with what I would suggest is quite a tidy sum of money each year, much of which would have kept us afloat during the initial covid ravaged season. Did you feel passionate enough to attend the members meeting and raise it with the appropriate people?
I agree with Quasi by saying what the club has said involves motherhood statements, but show me a business that doesn't deal in that. Im employed in a government department and they just love motherhood statements. The fact is the club have come out publicly with a set of strategic objectives which have stated specific objectives and good on them for doing so. Strategic objectives are broad statements of intent over a specific timeframe, so sorry hypen they are not a means of explaining how things are going to be achieved. You are just going to have to go along for the ride and trust the club is taking you in the right direction.
