There's some lessons here. Hugh Greenwood waltzes right out of Gold Coast after being delisted (with a nudge-nudge wink-wink) promise of being re-rookied to give the Suns more flexibility in drafting. Then, the Roos swooped and basically got a half decent player for nix.

When Freo delisted Watson, Duman, Giro, Bewley, I sure hope they knew what they were doing; I watched Watson's game against the Weagles and thought he was good. I've been impressed with Duman at times.

I think the lesson is, if you plan on being cute with your list, you better know what you're doing or you might end up like the GC Suns.

You can be cute with your list, just don't do it with blokes in your top 10 players. Fringe players aren't likely to get poached or worry you too much if they are.

Greenwood has form, and walked out of the Perth Wildcats while under contract.

GC17 left themselves exposed and Greenwood took a better offer. There's a lesson for list managers in that, but also for anyone who has dealings with Hugh Greenwood.
