I wouldn't mind an extra game or 2 for the season, gives more value for money.

Yep I agree Rag's. Why don't they experiment with that concept for a few seasons.
Personally, I can't see the point in the pre-season competition either.

You'd get less footy but you would get better footy.

Expat, Gil & co can't experiment with any changes for more than 10 weeks, they make the goldfish attention span seem like a millenium.

I’m for the 20 team comp with tassie and NT in it. 38 games each year and a 6 week finals series. Then 6 weeks of trades draft and Christmas and a 2 week preseason rinse and repeat.

I hate cricket so more AFL the better.

Now that is value for your "watchafloverseas" dollar.

AFL 365, I’m surprised they haven’t embraced it already.

I think Microsoft Office has the copyright on "365", docbert. Maybe we could go for AFL 363, and give them Christmas Day & Boxing Day off.

Talking about AFL 360. I reckon they should award a trophy to footballers that reach 360 games played... and most likely Mundy will be the first recipient.

I'll tell you what there's too much of - dead time that drags on and on between trading and the draft

Here's an idea: extend the Trade Eon by a fortnight, and turn the draft into a week long extravaganza. Picks 1-3 on the first day, then 4-10 the day after, then 11-18, followed by a special day for pick 19 all on its own. Next day would be the rest of the second round, followed by a rest day and then rounds 3 onwards.

I’m with you Mushroom. I’m currently waiting for the season to begin and, miss watching The Dockers as soon as they are done. Less weeks of footy doesn’t sound great to me.
If we want to improve the quality of footy, find a way to reduce the comp back to 12.
22 rounds playing twice, spot on.
Back to a top five final series.
List sizes could possibly be expanded as resources aren’t spread as thin.
Easier to have 12 quality head coaches.
Every club has at least 6 top level players. This means at least 36 quality players distributed amongst the remaining 12 clubs. Surely this leads to a higher calibre of game. I don’t believe the talent pool is currently sufficient to sustain 18 AFL quality teams.
Lower level comps would benefit from a higher standard as well.

Dead right. Just make sure the six exiting clubs come from Victoria (4) and one each from Qld and NSW. Then you’ve got football market share pretty much right.

And you've ripped out the hearts of a lot of football supporters, who no longer have a club, plus you've set in motion the conditions for the average person to be priced out of going to the football.
