B1R1, sitting down with a box of bush chooks is probably what caused this mayhem in the first place. Chill out with an EB.

Interesting read in theWest How top 10 could play out on draft night as Fremantle Dockers ponder two selections

Has us taking Jye Amiss with our first pick. But does caution us to pounce on him with the first pick because the Tigers may take him if still available due to losing Mabior Chol and Callum Coleman-Jones as they have the next pick.

Then with our second pick they have us taking Mac Andrew... I don't know if he could be used as a bargaining tool for Luke Jackson the following year or if we should instead go for Neil Erasmis or Matt Johnson instead.

There's almost no chance Mac Andrew lasts that long. GWS are in desperate need of more talls and he is the perfect project for them. Apparently GWS are looking to trade down a few picks from No 2 so they don't overpay for him there. GC could also use him although are likely to go with Gibcus who is the premier key defender available. Richmond would also take him as their KPP depth is low and quite old.

The only way I could see us taking two key position players with both of those top picks were if one was a ruck/forward like Andrew, he just won't be there. We need another top quality midfielder to take over from Mundy/Fyfe as well as Cerra. If we don't use at least one of those selections on a mid, I will be incredibly surprised and disappointed. There's no need to use them both on KPF's when there aren't that many positions in our best 22 for them. One is enough, more so if we have other developing talls like Benning later in the draft.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

I agree with the sentiment we dont need to draft more than one Key position forward Biz, (Im not even sure we should be fitting the three big forwards we have, in the same side but thats another topic). Im also not sure we need another ruck/forward, partly for the same reason. Tabs, Lobb, Darcy and Meek all fit that bill to varying degrees of success. Thats why Id probably be favouring Amiss and Erasmus for first two.

I've noticed a lot of love lately for Jye Amiss but he's a specialist forward, a bit of a one trick pony, while JVR is definitely more versatile, has performed well in big games and is a Freo fan. I really hope we lock in JVR with our first pick as we may not get another chance and don't want to see another talent like his go East and then we whinge and whine about not picking him and want to do all sorts of crazy deals to get him into Purple after he's made a name for himself over there. I know there are others waiting to pounce on Amiss as he is a talent but he has been comprehensively shut down by opposition defenders prior to his injury whilst in games where JVR has been denied the footy he has been able to go to defense or into the ruck to perform important roles. He is very hard to keep out of the game and the player we need.

Nice to know Gumnut. I notice in theWest they have some attributes;

AFL player comparison: Aaron Naughton (Western Bulldogs)

Strengths: Contested marking, ability to shift into defence, goalkicking, aggression.

It must be tough being a recruiter, but with JVR it's nice to know he's a Freo man.

I was speaking to a player manager who said that because of the way we overlooked Naughton at Peel who was also a dockers supporter as a kid he'd told the manager that there's no chance in hell he'd ever come to Freo whatever the salary he's that bitter. I don't know much about JVR, and he hasn't been playing under our noses at Peel, but if he's got his heart set on us and we overlook him that potential anger might make it hard to lure him back here later.

Gumnut if Amiss is a one trick pony - hopefully hes similar to another one trick pony that has smashed us over the years - Josh Kennedy. Hasnt left the goal square in a decade

Themagoos. That info is not correct. Naughton and his family are massive Pies fans. He wanted to go to Victoria.

Prior to the 2017 draft: via Ryan Daniels, 15th November 2017

At the AFL draft next week 17-year-old Rockingham defender Aaron Naughton will be among those predicted to go in the top 10.

But the talent, who is already being compared to the Eagles’ All-Australian star Jeremy McGovern, has a message for the Fremantle Dockers.

‘Let me go to Collingwood’.

Considered a ready-made AFL defender, experts have been suggesting that Freo would attempt to snap up the youngster with pick five.

But Naughton, who is born in Victoria, has his sights on Collingwood at pick six.

“For me personally I think Melbourne, being the home of footy and playing for the biggest club in Australia, that'd be the way to go for me,” he said.

Seems a clear message to me. If someone, particularly a player manager, is running a counter-narrative to that, then they are at best mischevious, at worst flogs of the highest order.

So we took Cerra at 5. No-one is going to argue with Brayshaw at 2. Hardly seems to be treating Naughton poorly, and I doubt we promised him anything at all if he was openly saying don't draft me.

I thought Naughton was upset because peel dropped him to play a bunch of Freo players in the GF and he missed out on a premiership after playing all season for them.

Good info and I stand corrected. Bad info from the player manager, who you'd think would know better.

That is true, PK. That may be the reason for the angst.
