I went along to Claremont on Sunday to get a first hand look at the Tigers and to see how good our possible draftees may be. Well I was most impressed with Jacob van Rooyen and really hope we get him with one of our first picks. Problem is, I think a few talent scouts from other clubs may like what they saw as well. The game was up for grabs after half time and Van Rooyen along with Academy player Eric Benning took the game by the scruff of the neck and took the Tigers to victory. I haven't seen Jack Williams and Josh Cripps yet but Van Rooyen and Benning were very impressive but I fear that Van Rooyen's dominant display may have taken him into the top 10 picked. One particular pack mark he took in the last quarter stood out so I hope we do take him. Benning is an interesting one because as an Academy player we can match any selection after Pick 20 so if he makes it that far I hope we do match bids and take him as he's a very good raw tall forward/ruck prospect who dominated the the centre bounces in the last quarter, even winning clearances off his own boot. The other kid that took my attention who would be worth a later pick was Angus Sheldrick who usually plays midfield, copped a corky early so went forward to have a rest and kicked 3 goals then went back to midfield and helped win the game late. He's only 179 cm but very strong overhead. Also good was Kendal Blurton who I think may also be an Academy player..
