Fears of a terror attack look set to quash hopes of a traditional grand final parade through the Perth CBD after security consultants urged the AFL to cancel it.

Instead, it’s likely the parade will become a free ticketed event inside an arena.

If a free ticket can prevent a terrorist attack, what terrifies me is what are the AFL doing with your personal information after you give it to them.

I'm not a security expert, but isn't the issue more likely to be that limited entry points to an arena means security can check people aren't carrying guns and stuff?

Arenas usually have capacities, so I assume the tickets are to ensure everyone who wants to get in can.

I think the issue is more likey to be that the security company the AFL use don't have a Perth office

Perth did well with the Highway to Hell event..That was over a 1M people.
Couldnt we just do that again?
Sounds like the AFL dont want the AFL GF experience in WA to be a resounding success

Do we have to give it to those hicks over in Perth?
Probably.
Can't we hold out til the last possible minute, just in case?
Sure.
Oh bugger it, looks like they get it.
Good oh - they can do parades over there you know, everything is open.
Bugger that, we can't earn a coin off that. They got the game, they should shut up and pay us and be grateful. Bloody hicks. It's our bloody game you know? Just make sure they bloody know it. Hicks.

Oi - anyone sent the turf yet? Get the bloody turf!

A terror event? What a zealot going out on his/her sword in protest of the price of food at Optus?

Terrorists!

How did they get in to Perth?

Maybe they've realised we're in a mining boom and there are no spare Hilux's floating around Perth.

He won't do it, but Mark McGowan should get going and create a parade. Sure the AFL teams won't be in it, but it could start somewhere in the city with a band or two playing, and wend its way over the fancy bridge with lots of entertainment and food vans on the way - a highway to the GF if you like.

The whole concourse outside Optus stadium should be full of fun things - the best bits of the Royal Show, open all day.
Just don't trust the AFL to do it.

I thought this thread was about Mike Brady arriving for his quarantine.

Like your thoughts there RR.
Could just have Freo and the rabble up the road plus the topline WAFL clubs like Sowfs, Subi etc

I thought it was about Big Red trying to get Eddie Nearly Everywhere, but Not Quite Everywhere, into WA for the GF.
