Shane, we offered our second round pics for Conigs, do you think a third, fourth and fifth round pic would cut the mustard?

Couldn’t we go to Norf with Cerra for #1 pick ( the SA kid who is a Freo supporter and idolises Nat Fyfe?)
They get Cerra, who they know is already a jet and will only get better. We get a #1 pick who loves Freo and could be anything.

Cerra has no interest in going there though.

Don’t GAF.
Sorry I am all for players making the most of the short time they have in the game. I completely understand Lachie going to Brissy. I completely understand players making the most of their career, as I or anyone else would. Cubs ain’t clubs anymore. They are fully fledged businesses. They would much prefer not having to put up with “members “ They need to be ruthless to compete

If that kid likes Fyfe so much he would have one of those alien/voodoo haircuts.

I like Fyfe. And if I could, I would take one of those alien/voodoo haircuts in a flash.
( Oh, for the memory of sitting in a barbershop chair)

Grow a beard, then you can pay a hipster barber $40 to style it for you.

Back to the trade talk, it looks like Gold Coast are bribing clubs to take players off their hands. AFL.com have an article stating they are going to trade Darcy Macpherson + pick 19 for a future 2nd or 3rd round pick from north Melbourne. Given the WA talent available in this years draft, I’d be happy to trade a future 2nd for Brodie and pick 22

That shouldn’t be allowed. Pick 19 was given to them by the AFL as part of the help package. To then pass it on in a salary dump is bs. The AFL should stop it.

You’re right, but they have stuffed up their list management big time by having too many contracted players, they already have 38 signed up for next year and have just acquired Chol through free agency. So need to trade out 4 players to meet the minimum draft intake of 3 every year. Plus they get to add academy players without the need to select them in the draft. So the only live selection they’ll make is pick 3. They’ll use this as a reason to say they are trading into next years draft. Second round pick from NM would be pretty close to pick 19.

Trade for their picks. As shown last year, clubs see the first pick of the 2nd round as valuable as that pick is the first pick of day 2. I would offer Gold Coast our future first round pick for pick 19 and pick 22. If they are not going to be hugely involved in this years draft that may appeal to them. That gives us a huge draft hand this year.

They need to offload contracted players as well though. To free up space for this years intake

I see your point but isn’t Brodie Uncontracted ? Also I just don’t like the idea of a rewarding a team with a decent draft pick to take on a unwanted players salary.
