Excellent, another third year trigger.

So based on our recent experience, we've got two and a bit years of Lachie being a productive player, when he suddenly gets dropped and JLo has to explain that Lachie's continuing non-selection has nothing to do with the trigger clause of his contract.

So how does this work? He's much sought after but our contract offer includes a requirement that the club keeps him on its rookie list for the next two seasons?? It doesn't sound we value him too highly if we cant even elevate him onto the main list (and is this really what the rookie list was intended for?)

We got too cute moving him into the rookie list last year, that will always make him an unrestricted free agent. He still earns the same $$ he would normally command, somewhere in the 3-400 range I would expect, the only bonus we get is that $80k is not in our salary cap.
The reason we keep him in the rookie list is that if we elevate him to the main list and put another player on the rookie list, they too would become a free agent. So we leave him on the rookie list for the maximum 3 years then elevate him.
