“ The Fremantle Football Club confirmed four changes to their playing list on Wednesday.

Brett Bewley, Taylin Duman, Stefan Giro and Tobe Watson were informed that they will not be offered contracts for the 2022 season.

Bewley was selected at pick 59 in the 2018 AFL draft from Williamstown in the VFL, playing 25 games for Fremantle across three seasons – with six games in 2021.

Duman was taken by Fremantle at pick three in the 2016 rookie draft. He played 45 games between 2018 and 2021, including six games to his name this year.

Giro has been on Fremantle’s list for four seasons, after being selected with pick 21 in the 2018 AFL rookie draft. Giro played 10 games in 2018 and a further four matches in 2021 for a total of 14 with the Club.

Watson played 11 games throughout the 2021 season, totalling 14 games across his time at Fremantle. Watson was selected as the 22nd pick overall in the 2019 rookie draft.

You could make a case for each to hang onto them – and perhaps we can re-rookie one or more depending on how the list takes shape.

Of those I’m most disappointed about Duman, but it’s hard to see him getting a game in the backline anytime soon. He’d be worth a crack for a team short of defenders.

Bit harsh on Watson, at least he had improved every year. The others make sense, although I always rated Duman. Banfield would be on thin ice as he plays too many poor games for every good one, and I presume Valente will be delisted.

They need to turn the list over pretty hard.

Im surprised about Duman and Watson as they are solid players and not what I would describe as list cloggers. The club must have forgotten how frequently our defence gets injured and we need suitable cover in case of an emergency. Not only that but Watson has the best flame red mullet in the AFL.

All of these blokes were honest players but never going to improve much on what they are at present. They've all had enough time on the list to prove themselves but it's probably time to get someone else on to have a go.

Good luck to them and hopefully they make their way back for another chance.

I thought Bewleys game last weekend was deplorable.. lazy footballer, no attack on the ball and one directional.. Tobe would be the only one on that list I would be looking at for re-rookie. Bells announcement though looks pretty categoric. They normally flag who they are going to rookie.

Has to be pick 6 plus a player for Cerra (zac F, SPS or Jordan Clarke) Then maybe split pick 8 and move down the order so we have an extra 2nd rounder and two third rounders.. that gets us 6 players. Take the other two in the rookie draft

I'd imagine there's some promotions off the rookie list that will happen. I think Treacy, Schultz and Hughes are all still on the rookie list.
