The problem with the hard bargain we drove with GC is that it was the one and only hardnose RTB that stood his ground to the last minute despite others in the club wanting to yield knowing full well GC had to cave in.
We are screwed if he has anything to do with this negotiation.

As flagged several months ago (and I copped flack for saying it ... grrrr), Cerra had let his mates (those jungle drums!) in Victoria know that he was expecting to be back in Melbourne next year. Short of Freo pulling off a miracle he was never going to be staying.
To his credit he kept up his form and we should be able to get a decent trade for him ... Belly's press statement shows he's already angling for a high trade (as he should)

"speculation' Shane? Which bit of, he's bought a house in Fitzroy, his girlfriend doesn't want to move to Perth, he's very close to his family and he told his mates that he was expecting to return to Melbourne is speculation? Nothing was never set in stone but it was never looking good.
Anyway, the horse has now bolted and we can look forward to some new talent. This time last year Essendon was a mess but they made the most of picks they got for departing players.

We picked him, he didn’t pick us.

From day 1 he didn’t look like a happy camper at Freo, but to his credit he stuck with us for a few years, played some good footy and didn’t spit the dummy. $750k pa would have been way too much for him this early on.

I wish him all the best, hope he enjoys the weather in Melbourne and takes Carlton or whoever he goes to the cleaners.

Lachie Neale, Ed Langdon, Brad Hill, Lachie Weller, Adam Cerra....
All very good players that have asked to leave for various reasons, while across town I can't recall anyone asking to leave since Chris Judd. It's become a mini crisis for the club. How are Fremantle supposed to build a competitive list if our best players keep asking to leave? Why are they leaving? There has to be more to it than the go-home factor.
