Move love here for Schultz and particularly the Owl - he is smart and I am guessing (just from team reactions after goals etc) a very important personality in the group.

EG when he hit up Schultz with a dart pass in Q1. When Schultz slotted it, they had a serious moment - like Darcy and Mundy at the siren.

Banfield and Switowski were the two for me that really showed that given the opportunity to play more midfield time could really stand up and deliver.
It also showed that Banfield is not a half forward!
Switowski’s attack on the man and pressure around the ground was fantastic.
In all honesty, I am no longer concerned about Cerra staying anymore, we have plenty of midfield depth and with young leaders like Serong and Brayshaw leading the way we’ll be fine.

The one thing that none of our other midfielders have, besides Mundy, that Cerra has, is the ability to hit targets. His ball use is very good.
Young is about the only other elite ball user we have.
Banfield slow? Okay, he's no sprinter, but I don't see him as any slower than Crowden, Bewley, Tucker, Acres or Mundy. Even Brayshaw and Serong are not renowned for their pace. He did a good job keeping up with and negating Kelly, Shuey and Sheed

I reckon thats the importance of The Owl , CA. He hits targets... its just a matter of getting him the ball a bit more often than he gets it.

Yes, I am an unapologetic The Owl fan....have been ever since i saw the skills he exhibited on that predraft highlights video. He's a smart footballer, he's got vision & skills, and we need blokes like that.

Yes, hes a bit slow, and, he's been lumped defensive half forward tackling /high pressure type that we seem to value real highly at Freo, and been willing to stagnate careers via it. (Ie MDB)

I'd like to see him have a role at the centre bounce downs actually. Can't see him running with the modern midfielder, but maybe we could use his quick thinking, and skills in there to extract it occasionally.

We need to free The Owl!! Let him loose

I made the mistake of listening to PR at the game after not being able to sit through the dribble live SEN delivers with Gossage..
Anyway KarlWCE never ceases to amaze me with his lack of knowledge about Freo players for a paid professional.
Recently on radio he said Switta was a downhill skier.
On the weekends game he said Schultz & Crowden cant kick over a jam tin.
Now Schultz is no Bernie Quinlan but is a decent kick.
But the Owl can lob them from 60 and has clearly been told to take shorter options.
He really has no idea.

I'm another one that has not valued young Crowden but after re-watching the Derby I was struck by how many times his involvement was crucial and instrumental in goals and clearances. He has won me over most definitely and I hope he can keep up that A Grade work level into the future. I was also impressed by Darcy Tucker's repeated efforts all around the ground and think that the wing is an excellent position for him to make his own. Special mentions to Walker, Switta, Schultz, Treacy, Aish, Logue, Young and Banfield. Although not having a big game I was also very pleased for Lloyd Meek who tried tirelessly and was easily much better value than Vardy as a second ruck, allowing Darcy to influence the forward line much with much more impact.
