Plenty of local key forwards for us to choose from next year. Benning is a new one to me.

We need to be on some form of draft tampering exercise this year.
If I was the club - I would invite the top 20 players from WA to the game this week with parents.
Get them in the rooms. Buy them lunch
Then get them into the club for a tour during the week.
Explain with the uncertainty of covid, being drafted to a eastern states club makes things difficult with border closes, quarantines, hubs, long periods of not seeing family etc
We need the WA boys to be less than enthusiastic when being interviewed by the other clubs recruiters.
Getting Mums & Grandparents onside will help out..
If Perkins could get away with his statement last year, we can do this comfortably.

With this whole nonsense surrounding cerra, where it is now stated if he leaves it will be for family and not money. Richmond have apparently pulled out and now only Carlton is in the running.

I have said for the next 5 years please please only recruit locals.
Hopefully if cerra leaves we can get the number 6 pick from Carlton and with our potential 5 or 7 pick , assuming we get belted in the next 2 games , we could get a reasonable draft hand.

Hopefully the club can be real and stop their destination club nonsense and get locals.

Only draft locals? No Pav, Mundy or Brayshaw. Your draft strategy looks a winner.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Benning has been doing some good things of late and is coming from a long way out. He could be a handy late or rookie pick to develop for a few years. Here he is a week ago having a bit of fun

Exceed why would we settle for pick 6 from Carlton. He was a pick 5, and it would appear a good pick 5.
Can don’t get why people think this is fair compensation.
Sure if he wants to go for family reasons we can help it happen but why does that mean we need to get bent over.
I would suggest at least pick 6 and one of either Fisher or SPP at a minimum.
I don’t even think this is playing hard ball.

I’m not sure Port Adelaide would hand over Sam Powell-Pepper to help Carlton get hold of Cerra.

Can anyone provide a link to the interview where Cerra said he is leaving Freo?

I agree RM, I hope people remember and don’t give him the bronx, as indicated in other threads we're an easy target for this speculation. I think West Coast might surprise and trade NN, he’s the only one with value worth going to the Suns or Carlton.

Mundy was saying the team make Cerra feel appreciated and valued - that's their part now we fans can keep playing our part, which we've been doing (where does this new rumour come from?)
Last chance to Bronx cheer Dean though

Yeah I reckon he stays.. We went through this all before last time.. I do think pick 6 and Zac Fisher would do nicely.. I reckon him as a half forward would be a nice upgrade from Crowden, he can also play wing.. Its probably the 2 areas of the ground that we most need some talent.. I used to speak to Earl Spalding about about how good Fisher was and he was a big reason of him going to the blues.. He kicked 4 against the Eagles at Optus.. He just makes things happen and is also one of Griffin Logues best mates from Guildford Grammar so it wouldn't be hard to twist his arm

Nice touch as well that both Van Rooyen and Benning are life long Freo supporters so would be nice to accomodate their dreams. Benning apparently grew up idolising Pav and models his game on Rory Lobb, hopefully more consistent, and currently studying in Perth so he seems settled in the local environment.
If we can get one or two these guys plus Jack Williams from East Fremantle I would feel confident in our immediate and long term future.

Exceed, I think you have a point but under this premise, no Pavlich, Mundy, Brayshaw, Sean Darcy. Swings and roundabouts. We know one thing, if he goes to the Blues. He sure as heck loves his mum.

Funny how country and Tasmian players never suffer homesickness?

We've got heaps of talent in this state, no doubt. I wonder if Cerra understands the probability of being coached by RoLy again - of spending your best years of his football career simply running around going harder and harder and harder at everything for little to no point?
