When we drafted him back in 2007, I was working remotely, residential. I represented a mine at a Port Operation in the country. So I was by myself essentially, I hated it - youve got to worry about your circumstances when its Dockerland keeping you sane. I remember saying to myself you are doing this for other people (family) and one day maybe you can retire a little earlier. I set a measurable target to give me something to work to; a reason to hang in there. I said this skinny kid looks strong and will just play for ever. He'll retire when I'm around fifty seven/eight. That's been my goal the past thirteen - fourteen years, to retire when Hill retires. Today is the day and it just shouldn't be this way but it is. He stands along with Stephen Michael, Maurice Rioli and Justin Longmuir as my favorite footballers. Good players. Good men. Humble. He should have played at least another three years as i initially thought.
Oh and I went saw my financial planner last year and Im on track to retire, when I'm 142.
