There are some players from other clubs that are very difficult to dislike and, for me, Shaun Burgoyne is one of them.
This weekend he joins a very rare group of players who managed to get to 400 games at the top level, and in doing so becomes the first indigenous player to reach that milestone.
To put that into perspective, he was drafted in 2000 (his first senior game was 2002). That was the same draft that we used a later pick on Dion Woods, which seems like a lifetime ago.
Four premierships later, he’s still going and by all accounts his off field impact as a strong voice and influential role model for young indigenous kids is also noteworthy.
Congratulations on a great career!
