Is there a thought out there that an umpire's feelings might be being hurt???!!!
I've been in enough umpire changerooms, unfortunately, (city & country) to know that some of these blokes are the thickest skinned , unwavering, opinionated b.....ds you'll ever meet.
And a fair chunk of them like the attention, love the power, and, yep, some of them relish knowing that they are 'a main part of the show'.
Few of them are 'shrinking violets', and if they were, they wouldn't last in the caper. There is a heck of a lot of 'Razor Rays' out there, thats all I'm saying.....
You've all experienced the 'type'...
The ones you respect, are the ones who consistently apply the rules. Thats all you can ask from an umpire, that, and, a bit of discretion here & there.
Ones who make errors too often, I don't respect....and, if I may say so, the amount of respect you have as an umpire - one way or the other - from players & supporters, is well earnt.!
