One of the lessons the boys club not learnt has been the continual promotion of people like Ben, who are also people like them, as the archetype footballer. The privately educated, well spoken, well groomed, from a 'good' family set of characteristics are highly sought after for new recruits. It's created a bit of a monoculture in the league, and narrowed the pool of talent, despite plenty of people like Ben demonstrating that those things are superficial and don't have much bearing on character.

Ben got a lot of free passes because the people in charge of things couldn't accept that they could be wrong so about how to judge someone's character. They still can't.

The "new" bit of information for me was "What McLachlan failed to tell Mitchell and his listeners was that Gillard’s explicit directive under the terms of reference for his probe was to only consider incidents that took place post April 2007 when determining if the club should be punished."
So the Eagles stand accused of a coverup.
The AFL now faces the same accusation.
Meanwhile Nisbett and McLachlan remain high paid executives for their respective organisations.
It makes it difficult to discuss the importance of ethics, morality and truth, when the evidence suggests that these things are negotiable.

It was always pretty obvious though. They went out of their way to suggest it all happened after the grand final, despite all the carry on. They still always talk as if they won a grand final and then started taking drugs for the first time that night.

I suppose the fact that slime president Dalton Gooding was in business with Dimwitriou had no impact on the decision nobble the enquiry.

If I didn't know better, I'd be thinking that there's corruption in the AFL, particularly in relation to the slime.
