I was after that sarcastic reply that RM wants to put on his own post. Your love for Sonny is something else but he had another night to forget. That miss when we were on a big comeback was inexcusable.

And Schultz looked like he was playing through injury? He must have been injured for quite awhile then because it was no different to his form in the last few weeks.

Colyer the link up player i don't get either. It's the midfielder's job to provide the link ups and the forwards to kick goals, something he rarely does, and if he is providing good link up then it's certainly not resulting in goals down the ground.

And sorry Lobb was a dud last night. Without Tabs we really needed him to step up and he didn't. Flew a lot but took one good mark that I can remember. And that hook shot from about thirty metres out that missed everything by about ten metres was embarrassing.

At the other end with the same greasy conditions Naughton put on a masterclass of marking. Luckily for us he couldn't kick straight. Treacy's marking under similar conditions was also better than Lobb's.

Our forward line is a mess. Loved Treacy's game last night, and great to see Henry starting to believe in himself and looking dangerous. But the fact that our two youngest players got so little support is not good enough.
Lobb, Walters and Schultz have had one good game each this year where they've kicked a few. Crowden, Colyer and Switkowski rarely kick goals. Tabs is always good for a goal or two, but never a bag.
We don't have a long kicking midfielder or a midfielder we can throw forward to kick goals like good sides do.

Saying all that our game style doesn't help. We are so slow getting the ball forward, holding up play, etc that the forward line is always crowded with no room to move. And as much as we didn't like smug Roly saying our skills haven't improved, he's right, they haven't. Mundy and Cerra are about only good deliverers to the forwards.

You would normally have Taberner down there, he was against two or three all night. The kicking to him was atrocious when he lead to the ball. I swear he was going to injure himself.

Since kicking goals is essentially all of Naughton’s job, I expect the entire universe to smack down on him about his poor technique and how it is in his head.

I’m surprised nobody’s gone Rory Lobb yet for that 25 m straight in front left hook swing outside of the foot banana for zero result.

Which he did the stutter-step before launching - it was never going to register anything.

Yeah really poor goal kicker is our Rory but I’ll cut him some slack around the ground. Freo did not kick to his advantage at all, leaving him to go the miracle mark up against 3 or 4 opponents more often than not.
When the ball hit the ground the doggies were too quick and too clean. A big difference in class.
The dogs were all running hard to provide options. Freo weren’t and thats purely effort - inexcusable and disappointing.

Okay if a bloke supposedly has three or four opponents on him(the number gets bigger all the time)then there must be plenty of his team mates on their own. We don't see them then or just decide to ignore them?

Yeah Mushroom Brayshaw’s miss and Lobb’s not long after where costly. Both pretty easy set shots and would of put us in front.

Im intrigued by one of JL's comments in his presser where he indicated that Serong was tagging Liberatore in the first half before being moved onto Bontempelli in the third. Liber then went a long way to changing the game with two quick goals after the tag was dropped. By all accounts the Liberatore tag was effective in the first half so why the change? Also, Serong onto Bontempelli would seem to be an odd match up given the size difference and Bontempellis marking strength. I can see that it might be a valuable learning exercise for Serong but not when the game is still in the balance.
I assume that the coaches know why they made the change but it would be interesting to know the logic because it didnt seem to work out in our favour.

Considering the banana is a much more forgiving kick to execute, I didn't have a go at Lobb, if he went the drop punt it probably would have resulted in a forced behind for the Dogs at the other end.
