It's like none of you have watched Blakely scrub most of his kicks or handpass to players standing still under pressure over the last 5 years. That sort of thing is an instant turnover and kills you in the modern game. Counting on the weather to bring everyone else down to his level isn't the best reason to play him.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Oh, he's on his own there then? He gives a better contest than others who are getting a game that are just as bad with ball in hand.

Eventually
Hard to fathom this weeks team selections and non-admissions that's for sure. Henry must be a wet weather specialist I presume, well he can't get a kick when it's dry so maybe! Crowden gets saved by the wet weather predictions I guess is more believable but wouldn't Conca have been pretty useful in the wet against those big bodied Sydney mids and forwards? Duman on the wing instead of Acres would look good but no imagination once again.
On another note I see Bewley is an omission at Peel so looks like another setback coming up.

Treacy getting a game was to ensure he took his pilow and swag and got out of JL's office after his two week lie in wait.

Blakely only had 2 kicks in his last game against Brissy after coming on in the first quarter and playing midfield but you're worried about Henry not kicking the ball well enough?

Our players are all far better kicks than Blakely (except for maybe Conca) and don't have the instant urge to turn backwards into traffic and pass to teammates under pressure.

Team selections are a big part of the football experience week to week. It marks the commencement of the weekend ritual.

I had no idea people cared that much. I just assumed the AFL were trumpeting the response to ‘people power’ because it costs nothing to fix and the things fans actually care about (like ticket prices, a fair fixture etc) they are unwilling to change.

I get Liam does not necessarily deserve his spot but he has shown glimpses of special moments. I get only glimpses. But last week he was free several times and either Lobb, Fyfe etc just simply did not see him or picked worse options. My take is he is probably getting in the right places but the staggering poor decision making of our forward entries is not doing him justice. We were plain dumb against Essendon hence the frustration by longmuir at the presser.

As for blakely and conca the modern game is about disposal and Justin’s game plan is reliant on skill . Unfortunately we have a lot of players who were recruited to work under the ross Lyon game plan of not as much skill. Both those players will not take us forward. Back ups yes but not walk up starts. Though I thought blakely disposal was certainly better against the lion’s.

Bizkit, I think you're confusing Blakely with Fyfe. Fyfe is a great inside mid of course, but lately he has been handballing to players in packs with nowhere to go (except Mundy who is so good at evading tackles) and as you might have noticed, his disposal by foot has become very erratic. Against Brisbane Blakely handballed long to players on the move and there's nothing wrong with having a couple of kicks if you have 13 handballs and they free up other players. That's what inside midfielders do.

Okay, I'll probably get told I've got too much time on my hands or that you shouldn't believe stats and they don't mean anything or something like that but here's some of those dreadful things on our current midfield group.

First stat is clanger average and second is disposal efficiency.

Brayshaw 2.45.....77.79
Walters 2.64.....76.62
Fyfe 3.87.....69.50
Mundy 2.21.....74.02
Blakely 2.09.....90.24(2nd in the team to Cox)
Cerra 1.97.....73.81
Serong 3.26.....75.03
Acres 3.00.....75.03
Tucker 2.20.....72.72

The point with blakely is not the clangers or disposal efficiency.
He gets it and disposes well it but he gives it to a player often in more trouble than the early settlers or gives it to a player with no advantage. This is where he is guilty of causing the second turnover.
You can beautifully pass it on to no advantage, which is what he does and that is why Justin does not play him.

There are two massive differences between Fyfes poor disposal and Blakelys.
Fyfes been kicking poorly (in the field) for two games now as part of an extension of his goal kicking yips, Blakely been kicking poorly in the field for 5 years.
Fyfe is in the best 5 players in the whole AFL. Connor not so much.
