And just a tip Morgan - when kids are young, they tend to choose either Mum or Dad as their favourite parent. If he chooses you, he'll support Freo, particularly since we'll be better than WC for a few years now. If Mum is his favourite, then he'll go for WC, just to annoy you. Nothing can be done about that.

You should care Shane - It means we are cared less about by the general AFL community than Gold Coast.
I will simplify it for you - It was Round 17 in 2016 - July 15.
Some things never change - we got beat by the cats after losing a player through injury in the 3rd term and kicking inaccuracy cost us in a close finish even though we had double the inside 50s in the last quarter...
2016 - Morgans Auskicker wasnt even born!
Early the next morning at EF a young Aaron Naughton was getting a taste of colts footy for Peel.

RoLy ball made us unwatchable for years, even for most Fremantle diehards. That's why there's no Thursday or Friday night games - let's be brutally honest - we made football uglier than that forward bloke at the OOFTITS; we made football look like an uncooked Spanish omelette.

Nothing to do with Simon Garlick.

We might split hairs over your framing of this Demo but there is some merit in what you say.
Over the last week or so I’ve sat back, and listened to Hardwick, complain about one home game at Marvel. Scott complain about the soft cap, and how terrible it is. Simpson also whinge about the soft cap impacting their ability to support Rioli. Rutten carry on about Serong’s treatment of poor Merrett. Koch and McGuire stoush over the prison bars.
What do I ever hear from our club? Crickets.
While some of this may have more theatre than substance, it does shape the football conversation. We should have a greater voice, and be more assertive in the AFL landscape, otherwise we will continue to be inconsequential.
In saying all of this, on field success trumps all of it.

Just watched Longmuir’s pre game presser. He made a very good point countering sooky Scott’s objection to naming teams Thursday.
Other teams do have a very good opportunity to prepare for our team when we board the plane. We don’t get the same chance. The AFL should fine clubs that treat this decision with contempt.

That is just a list of grown men chucky tantrums.

Richmond are still going to play at Marvel, Rioli is still going to be a drug cheat, Merrett is still going to get whacked, Port Adelaide are not going to wear their poxy jumpy.

I don't know how Garlick spends his time but I would hope it was on better things than any of what those porkchops get up to.

As for the "Freo have played $&!t footy for the last 8 years, they don't deserve a prime time slot" argument, have any of yous who are pushing that line watched much prime time footy over the last 5 years?

RR: when you say “(kids will) support Freo, particularly since we'll be better than WC for a few years now”, what gives you that confidence? We have a few young players with “potential” but that is all it is at the moment and WC aren’t going to be sitting still waiting for us to catch up.
We are so far behind that organisation (on and off the field) that a “few years” looks likely to be beyond my time on this mortal coil.

Baloney - we're better than that lot every day of the week - they just swindle more wins than us.

Hmmm it's interesting, but I didn't mind the way we played under Ross Lyon, well until we started the controversial and so far not very successful strategy of "long bomb into the forward line to an uneven contest and see what happens, oh what's that its gone back over our heads and the oppositions scored, oh well lets set up and try it again, its bound to work at some point"

Accuracy is something I haven't thought about much aside from cursing when we lose, but going back through the records, and you have to go back to 2015 to find a season where we scored more goals than behinds in more than 50% of games. look back a couple of years further and in 2013 we only dropped below 50% on 7 occasions, and 3 of those were in the finals series. That makes it about 6 years of players having the yips and other teams barely worrying about Freo kicking big scores or fast series of goals like other clubs (eg Richmond, Cats, Eagles)

It does make me wonder, at what stage does performance on the field sit with the players, handled through building their skills, and if needed dropping them. When does it come down to the coaches so that they need to work on the way they are delivering those messages to the players and ultimately when does it work its way up the chain to the CEO.

Garlick has only been with Freo for a couple of years so it's probably a bit too early to be throwing shade on him just yet. Barring any major dramas he should see us through a couple of coaches at least.
