Actually, it doesn't really involve white power.

It was originally a 4chan hoax to try and trigger the PC nutters but the hoax has been too successful. Now people think it means white power.

In reading the article i thought it odd that eagles headquarters just gave excuses and didn’t take the opportunity to condemn white supremacy and racism in general. Surely that would be the first part of the media response? Unless I’m missing it and it’s buried in a media release somewhere where this will quietly be swept under the rug.
Fortunately, I’m sure no right wing leaning eagles supporters will read the lack of strong condemnation as tacit approval (nod nod, wink wink) and become emboldened….

I had no idea of the recent connotations with racism, I only knew the symbol from +20yrs ago when I was a kid and you copped a punch. I'd imagine it's the same for the vast majority of people who don't really follow memes on the internet. I didn't use the symbol before but I sure as hell won't in the future.
