Fyfe was not near the ball..but from media ( the delayed 60 second AFL "listen live" app Said "it was in play"...... JOKE! for being delayed and the comment ). Having a look getting home the GWS player was not going for the ball as it was not in the area, he lined Fyfe up 100%.

Yeah, I hear that. Because Fyfe had no idea it was coming, it was a massive hit and then he's collected the scone on the tarmac. Really quite upsetting to see him as groggy as that - especially given his head injury history.

I have looked at it again another forty or so times (in the video here...). Reid shapes up way too early for it be completely accidental. He definitely should go.

Interesting one. He had eyes on the play the whole time, never even looked at Fyfe. He was pushed into him by a Freo player and braced himself against the contact. He had no time to think about it or line Fyfe up.

Accident, no intent to clean him up, but that was the result.

I agree it's tough. The video of King and Montangne is interesting, and they both make good points (which in itself is quite surprising). Fyfe is completely vulnerable. Reid has a larger player running at him at pace, is barely moving and is looking at the ball. I have no idea whether the shoulder lift is a cheap shot or a defensive act. My view is that it happens too quick to ascribe malice, but it’s a marginal call.

After watching the video a dozen times, the only strong view I have is that Meek looks like a total goomba when the ball goes through his hands and hits him in the head.

He doesn't know who is there - he doesn't even look. He braces, he doesn't run into him with a shoulder up. Fyfe runs into him, not the other way round

It's clearly an accident. But the result might see him miss a week or 2.

If he gets nothing, I don't think that would be wrong either. Depends which definition of careless and sacrosanct heads the AFL are using this week.

How can you argue he doesn’t know Fyfe’s there? It’s his job to know where the opposition’s most dangerous player is. He may not be making eye-contact with Nathan but he knows he’s there.

Arguing he’s not looking directly at Fyfe means he can’t see him ignores the fact he’s not looking directly at the ball either but probably still has it in his peripheral vision.

He knows he’s there. He knows he’s going to run into him. He lifts his shoulder to increase contact power and he gets him high.

Should be three weeks will probably only get two.

Is anyone watching the footage? Reid isn't moving, he gets shoved. Fyfe isn't looking where he's going. Reid doesn't see him coming, but can obviously feel something coming towards him.

Watch the video. Don't make things up because it's Fyfe. Seems that's what most people are doing.
