They probably consider Lobb a forward Goodie.

What really depressed me after Saturday's game was watching Sydney and Hawthorn play high quality free flowing football and just how rank we were compared to two teams most have written off as rebuilding. Melbourne will not make the 8 so what does that say about us at this early stage of the season. Hoping for the best but as usual expecting more of the same. The recruitment of Hogan and passing on a genuine key forward (King) in the draft will haunt us for years to come.

If you were wrong about Sydney and Hawthorn, why would you back your opinion in about Melbourne and Fremantle?

Most pundits had Sydney and Hawthorn in a rebuild. Certainly I didn't expect they would be as competative as they were. Did you? Frankly I didn't think Melbourne would be a top 8 side and I stand by that. The quality of football Fremantle delivered on Saturday was sub par. It was not a good game by any measure. A poor spectacle in near perfect conditions. I live in hope.

We got who we got, that's it. There's no revisiting drafts, there's no rethinking club strategies, there's no chance of getting in extra players - who we got is who we put out for game two. We'll go through an entire season like this, like it or not - this is how it will be.

A couple of injured players are the key to us righting the ship. Lobb and Hodor are the obvious ones, but the key (for me) is Michael Walters. I think people underestimate how footy smart this kid is and the importance of those smarts within a team. Walters makes things happen and understands the game better than anyone in our team. That's just my opinion.

The other players that will make a huge difference are Darcy Tucker, Nathan Wilson and Stephen Hill. I'm assuming they'll be back this year too.

Polly, I think Logue would also make a big difference, particularly with Pearce and Hamling out. Logue showed some real promise last year.

Freo has a pretty good best 22. Trouble is, every year at least half a dozen of them seem to be unavailable for short or long stretches, or whole seasons.

Plus we lost or offloaded every forward we had, apart from Taberner. Whose goal average is 1.2 per game, and regularly only plays half a season.

I'm not sure about Wilson or Hill making a huge difference. Wilson was average in a WAFL scratch match, and is there any sign of a Hill return?

Perspective is an interesting Idea, for instance - Peter Bell thinks we have a dearth of tall players on our team!

Well said Polly, I agree about Son Son, he is very useful out there. Now any chance of you getting in contact with the LFL and seeing if some of the Lithuanians will be available for the Mid season draft, there is some tall timber in that part of the world?

McCarthy would have been useful about now, but living with reality, fingers crossed Logue and Darcy will be finished with the 100 mile/hr tape and we will see them soon.

It's going to be a long season, we need Morgan doing some beer reviews on what to drink, before , during and after the game!

Pearce and Hamling out for a few weeks. So against GWS!

We play Mundy down back 100% of the time. Mundy is a great player down back where he started his career. Bring in Duman and/or Wilson and/or Chapman for Watson and Hamling. Keep Cox at the back.
Play Fyfe 70% forward like Dusty Martin. We have a very good mid field with Brayshaw, Serong and Cerra assisted by Aish and Acres so Fyfe can be given more time forward.
Darcy MUST come in!! Keep Meek in also against GWS.
Cox on Himmelberg and Ryan on Toby Green.
Fredricks or Tucker for Henry?

Why would you play Mundy back when we've still got Duman, Wilson,Thomas, & Chapman who play there.
Plus Fredericks may be a test but Tucker is out injured 2-4 weeks.
