Richmond’s 2020 Premiership forward line was Lynch, Riewoldt, Martin, Rioli, Castagna/Lambert.
Geelong’s GF team was Hawkins, (old) Ablett, Rohan, Dahlhaus, Miers, O’Connor (with Dangerfield popping in).
Freo’s best forward line is Taberner, Lobb, Fyfe, Walters and some combination of small forwards.
If you take the majority view on here that Tabs is an elite forward, our forward line stacks up pretty well for talent (even with the talents of Hogan and CamMac being squandered).
Our defence also has the talent to be a premiership-level defence.
The real question is whether our young midfield develops to the point required to win a flag if Fyfe and Walters are playing forward and whether we can win the ball more and improve our ball movement to the forward line.
A flag in three years puts us 7 years into a rebuild. A 'flag in three years' is not an outlandish statement. Finals this year, prelim next, grand final in 2023.
If we need to expedite the process to capitalise on the last years of Fyfe and Walters, throw Cerra and a pick into the mix for Cripps at the end of the year.
