TOPIC: Quite the Conundrum...

Ok...

I've now sent at least 48hrs considering all our draft picks, and I am really quite excited about all of them.

Now, I'm pondering the makeup of next year's team....and well, ....how do we fit 'em all in??

I want to see all these young fellows play as soon as they can, and I believe (from what I've read upon this site) that due to their WAFL experience, most of the WA boys are capable of playing seniors soon. Bizkit - in particular - is very bullish about a few of them, and that is good enough for me!.

...And Treacy is, undoubtedly, physically ready to play seniors within his 1st 12 months...

So, ...assuming Logue, Hamling, A. Pearce, and Tucker are all fit, and, given that we have thrown Brayshaw, Cerra, Young, Serong, Fredrick & Henry all in, in their 1st year ...well...how in the bloomin' heck do we fit all these guys in.???

I mean, I am REALLY excited about this squad. !

But, I see a lot of current decent servants sitting on the sidelines ( Bewley, Crowden, Colyer, Schulz, Switoski... Hughes??) and wonder about where Watson, Giro, Banfield, and Valente fit in. ??

Even fellows like Conca, Acres, Aish and obviously Blakely, have serious competition for their spots, if these young draftees are to be given their chance..and standup when given it.

Its a conundrum that is great to have..... - a rather pleasant one , for once.!

I'd be really interested to see anyone's ' Best 18' for Round 13, 2021 .....(Rd13 to allow time for some of the new draftees to push for selection), because, I'll be jiggered if I can work it out....!

I doubt that Colyer will see much game time in the future. Bewley, Banfield, Giro - likewise. I think the club wants to give Valente some game time to see what he can deliver at AFL level. We just don't know at this stage. Watson is AFL capable but we simply have so many defenders on the list that he won't be able to hold down a place and would likely need to be traded to a club that will give him more opportunity.

I think Peel will do pretty well next year.

Agree that it looks good. Unfortunately, there are always injuries. One of the unknowns is which draftees are the most physically resilient. Great prospects like Morabito and Apeness have fallen by the way just because they had ongoing injuries. Question marks remain about Pearce and Hamling so depth is important.

I reckon we can play all of them, but will need to employ some type of rotating rotation like 2 games on, 1 game off over a 3 game period. Then hopefully they'll be able to play 66% of the time.
Not sure how that will work though, but it would surely bring long term benefits than the Ross Lyon - best 22 until broken malarkey.

Yes, each year we wonder how all these gun youngsters will fit into the team. Then FFC release the long term industry list after pre season training.

Then we're short of players.

Ryan Pearce Wilson sounds like a research fellow at the IPA.

Office next door to young Hamling Logue.

I have a feeling Hughes will be keeping ‘more talented’ players out of the team for the next 4 years.

I want to keep on topic...but Shane's good work has alerted me to a backline that involves Tucker, Cox & Young.......and it could present real problems for any commentator with a lisp....

Leave the half forward line as is. A move down the ground could open up Serong and leave Cox exosed.

An exposed Cox could leave Duman with a couple of Acres.

I have a bigger conundrum. Kane Cornes said if we were ASX stocks he would buy Docker Stock as we have the most upside in the league. I agree with him, but it makes me feel dirty.
