Looks like we should now be covered for key defenders, midfielders and small forwards. So we go to the rookie draft to find a key forward (assume this would be Huge Dixon) and a ruckman. Anyone who knows anything about young talent - who should we be looking at?

Kalin Lane from Claremont was the dominant ruck in Colts along with Shannon Neale who got picked up tonight.

Try our hand at an interstate rookie - Jackson Callow from Tassie. 194cm amd 100kg. Could be our Tom Hawkins for the forward ruck.

Kalin Lane is still available tomorrow and is a good developing ruck prospect. He'll take a few years to build himself up as a bit of a project ruckman but I'd be happy with him on the rookie list.

Max Heath was someone who improved dramatically at the back end of last year and in the pre-season this year before footy was wiped out in Melbourne. At 203cm, he'd be a great get as a project ruck..

Kaine Baldwin was one of if not the best KPF prospect coming through at U16 level before doing his knee which has seen him miss being drafted so far. I reckon he'd be a good shot on the rookie list as a powerful young tall if we can rehab him right.

Liam Kolar is a 195cm kid who's recently made the decision to give footy a proper go over soccer. He's done some fantastic things and looks like he could play anywhere, I'd be happy with him on the list.

Jackson Callow is another tall forward who was able to build some versatility this year playing back in a few games. I'd be happy to see him join the list as a rookie.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Biz, do you know the status of the other Walker boy? Can he be listed as a Category B Rookie and is there a spot for him??

Paddy McCartin might be a worth another chance. Could be a bargain pick up. Only 24 and not really a huge gamble as a rookie.

Yeah Chris Walker will still be available as a cat B rookie but I think we can add him to the rookie list whenever we like from here.

What happened with Zane Trew, Sumich has really put the kiss of death on him.

Touted top 20.

I thought we had one rookie and one cat b rookie available (after taking Banfield).

I am surprised all 3 of those tall forwards are still available, seems with the reduced list sizes many clubs have gone for a cautious approach. I’d be happy with any of them, question is, are they any better than Dixon? not sure we need a project ruckman as we have Meek on our list who’s 3 years ahead of these guys, I’d be more inclined to look for a mature ruck back up player if we felt this was a need.
