"The great game" in AFL circles actually requires no real knowledge of footy, the rules, the traditions or even have a passing contact with integrity.
All you need to know is:
I. Every umpiring decision is correct.
II. When different decisions are made for identical circumstances, see rule I
III. The only football tradition is Victoria and Victorian teams get priority, which is ok because there is nobody else. (Well, yeah there are some interstate mobs but they don't count)
