So, best guess,what are Hughes and Shultz likely to be paid next season?
Hughes is in our best 22, even with a full list to choose from, and Shultz ranks at the top of our depth chart, even if he's not quite in our top 22.
I hope they are getting decently rewarded.

So if you are on the Rookie list, are you only allowed to be on it for a maximun time frame -eg two years? What governs when you can play if you are a rookie? Does someone from the main list need to be TBA / Season for a Rookie to be allowed selection? I'm confused as it seems to have changed over the last few years.

I think you have to have a long term injury to a fully listed player before you can elevate someone from the rookie list. Based on recent seasons that shouldnt be a problem!

I think it changed a few yrs ago and they don’t have to be on long term injured list before a rookie Cat A can play so I really don’t see the point of it apart from part of their salary not being counted or some such rubbish.

The rookie list is basically no different to the main list except you were probably a more speculative pick. $80k of their salary is excluded from the salary cap so theoretically, Schultz, Bewley and banfield get an additional $80k on what they would otherwise have been contracted for which seems a nice bonus.

Biz is spot on, the only drawback to being on the rookie list is that you only get a 1 year contract, so the conversation probably went a little like this...
Bailey, look, you’re a valued member of the squad, we really like what you bring to the table, however we’re still a bit tight in the cap, so we could offer you a 2 year deal at $200k per year now, or you can take a 1 year deal as a rookie and we can pay you $280k, hopefully once we renegotiate/delist Connor and Travis next year, we’ll be able to offer you a longer deal. Have a think and let us know.

As per above, giro probably accepted a two year deal on something close to minimum wage, whereas I’d hope Hughes is around the $300k mark with $80k not included in the cap.
