This guy looked the goods in his first year and it seemed that he could only improve from there, instead he appears to have gone backwards or fallen out of favour with both RoLy and JL. I assume that one problem was that he wasn’t a specialist in any position (although he appeared to be an excellent tagger). Now he’s struggling to hold onto his place. What went wrong?

He’s a natural midfielder being played as a half forward. That’s what happened, he should be training again as a mid this year. Yes he has to fight his way into the team but playing as a forward is a one way ticket to bring delisted

You must be watching a different Banfield DK, he won the Claremont B&F in 2017 and then the Peel B&F in 2019 despite only playing 11 games for Peel as he played 7 games in the AFL. The kid can play in the middle.

His disposal wasn't up to getting 20+ touches a game so he had to find more of a negating role or drastically improve his kicking. Negating roles tend to be dime a dozen though so it's hard to stand out and demand selection.

His disposal never improved enough to overcome our other inside mids who hunt the ball like Fyfe, Mundy, Tucker and Brayshaw so the addition of Cerra and Serong to that group seems to be the writing on the wall.

Very lucky to be getting rookie listed imo. Taken as a mature age player and hasn't really been up to it. Why not give another mature age player from the wafl a go instead?
