At our pick we're pretty well placed to take the best available of whoever's left in the next group after the top 6. I always lean towards best available in the first round rather than reaching for a player to fill a hole, that's what trading and the rookie draft are for.
As to who we pick, this year is the toughest to gauge with little footage of most players around. Brayden Cook has maybe a dozen videos around and most are highlight videos but he does play between a wing and full forward, kicking 5 goals a few times at colts level rotating forward this year after a growth spurt (I think he's 189cm after being a forward pocket last season). He has good skills and running ability so he would be in the frame although I reckon there will be a great mid/tall slip out of the top 10 like Bruhn or Cox.
I'd have Jack Carrol ahead of Nathan O'Driscoll if a West Aussie were on the cards but there's a chance O'Driscoll is still around for our second pick. I'd pass on Heath Chapman as I think there's more valuable/talented players around our pick and he's linked with us purely because he's a West Aussie. Durdin is no where near our first pick for mine either as there's far more talented players in the first/second round and I'd probably class Western as a better small forward who will come to us later in the draft.
In reality, I don't really have a favourite for us this year. I've watched as much of the underage footy as I could find without U18's and TAC Cup but I'll be placing a bit of faith in our recruiters to pick the best available. They've done a pretty good job of late so hopefully it continues. My only hope for the draft is that the bids on Walker and Western don't arrive until the end of the second round.
