With all the chat about the futures of Jesse Hogan and Connor Blakely the disturbing part of our current list strategy is the continued non signing of David Mundy who still remains in a group of players including Brett Bewley, Lachie Schultz, Bailey Banfield and Leno Thomas who have been offered a contract for 2021. I know all the talk about unknown list sizes ,which is a disgraceful indictment on the AFL, but the mere presence of Mundy on this list of players in limb is, in my opinion, very poor treatment by the club of one of it's most faithful and reliable servants. If he doesn't go around in Purple next year it is a poor reflection on the club and there may be, as we speak, clubs who may think of offering him a 2 year deal something like what Brisbane gave Luke Hodge to finish off his playing days mentoring the young lions at Brisbane.
I hope the club do the right thing and do it quick. I don't like the way it has been implied that his future may depend on any list size management decision.

Gumnut, is it possible that Mundy has decided to see how HE feels about going around again before resigning?

I can't believe we are ~ a week out from the draft and clubs still haven't been told how many players they can have on their list.

The draft is isn’t till early December. The trade period starts next week, but yeah it would be handy to know.

I know what you're saying Matt. He has earned that right but everything I'm reading and and hearing is saying he does want to go around again next year.

Not that I know, but I'm of the opinion that Mundy is a pretty easy going character and would be okay with waiting, knowing that he will get a one year contract before the season starts. Well I bloody hope so.

Not a way to treat a great of our club that resisted large offers to go home many times..

To be fair, no one really knows what goes on down at the club and who's talked to who, when, and about what. So it's a bit much to come out in a rage when it's all just guessing and speculation.

Well, with no one saying anything you would have to assume that he's off to Geelong like all the other old fellas.

Mundy is totally chilled. I reckon the club has said “just wait until we’ve done all the trading we need to and we’ll give you a contract worth whatever’s left in the cap”.
He’d already be minted from 16 years of AFL so I doubt money is a big driver.
