I should also point out as Gumnut mentioned him, Van Rooyen is too young for this years draft but shapes as a top 10 pick next year. Great young kid.

Hoges with a pre-season will rip the competition apart. Our KPF stocks aren't great either so I can't see how anyone would want to get rid of him in any case. At the start of 2021 we'll have Tabs (27), Lobb (28) and Cox (22) if we shift him forward. That's it. No other developing tall forwards below that.

Isnt it amazing how modern media works. Someone tweets a potential story (Ryan Daniels) Immediately thereafter a second rate media co knocks up a quick breaking news story with plenty of factual errors and everyone copies and pastes it. While I understand the rationale for performance-based contracts for someone in Hogan’s position they can be pretty poisonous. From all reports, including the one above, it was in Freo’s financial interest to leave Hogan out of the team this season, which overlapped with a period of time when many (including I assume Hogan) thought he should have been playing.

Regardless of Freo’s motivations it can’t have helped the relationship.

Despite my 'prediction' I'm also in the we'd be daft to trade Hogan camp.

We're all outsiders looking in but watching him on field and in interviews late this season was the most relaxed I've seen him. Looked like he was enjoying life and football.

Dustin Martin (now 29) and Stevie J were both players with alleged discipline issues and freak talent who clubs persevered with.

Delivered on premierships as Norm Smith medalists. He is the kind of footballer who could turn the game on the biggest stage.

Gee Biz, I didn't realize Van Rooyen was that young. Watch this space. I'm also in the keep Jesse camp as he has shown his ability to perform at a high level and his football brain is reminiscent of some of the best in the comp. If JLo can make a lasting personal connection with him as he has with James Aish it could make us a strong Premiership contender over the next 5 to 10 years as the only thing currently missing from our team makeup is a reliable goalkicker and forward system.
Also worth noting that Mathew Boyd coming on board had dealings as a team mate with another talented big man in Tom Boyd who was also struck down with depression and anxiety but became an important part of the Bulldogs recent premiership. Mathew Boyd may have some insight that could assist in dealing with Jesse's problems.

Can't see Hogan at the club next year. It all comes down to getting the best deal because there will be interest from other clubs. Sad but the writing is on the wall for Jesse at the Dockers.

WCE. All these clubs, except NM obviously, still believe they are in the premiership window.
I would approach the Bulldogs and offer a straight swap - Hogan for Naughton.
