For those of us who get a little wound up about what they say about our football team in the daily paper, check out tomorrow's front page supporting the most significant federal budget since WW2.

It will be written in crayon next. That paper is an embarrassment to the state.

You know, not one reporter that covered the 'Dirty Pies' front page story that outraged all Collingwood players, staff and supporters recognised that the Worst Australian is one of the principle partners of the Slime. Not one - Eddie, Caro, Garry, Kane, Damo or anyone. None of them, zippo.

It's not that hard - you just give one upwards flick of your thumb on the phone screen and they're just below Channel 7, BHP and Hungry Smacks on the corporate sponsors page.

That's why I still refuse to pay for sloppy story telling.

The one thing i have found with the West ,mainly in the sports pages. is they have become evenly balanced in their reporting, though I do agree with opinions with other aspects of the paper.
We have been given a much more even balanced and very favourable opinions this season ,and especially since JL was appointed coach.
Almost immediately from his first Press Conference ,given he is a revelation of how a Coach should be talking about his team,to the press and in general to us the supporters.,the journo's seemed to be right on his side,lot's of praises,which grew as the season unfolded.
All my friends a mix of Freo and WC supporters ,were getting sick of me banging on about how utterly biased the West was towards Wc.Apart from this finals week when it was saturation Blue and gold everyday,we have been given i think a very fair coverage this season.
Of course we cop the bad press as well,certain personnel misbehaving.
I doubt there are a lot of readers on here who could support my opinions,but I'm more than happy to keep reading it.

Woodside hang up a huge banner that says GO FREO when we're in a playoff game. What they don't do is hang up a huge banner that says DIRTY MONGRELS YOUS OTHER KNOBS.

Notice the not too subtle difference? Enjoy the Worst - a well balanced rag by a bunch of well balanced blokes with a balanced outlook on their not quite so balanced world.

Well if you discard the wrap around,and get to the actual main paper,you will see my first reason of why i read this mornings West
A beautiful picture of Milli Lucas,what an inspiration this beautiful young lady is .
I can remember being at the game when she came onto the ground ,and Fyfey gave her a hug,my i started crying,and after the game which we won ,there she was again,a huge smile on her face even though she was struggling to move around.
And inside the paper a two page article of how she has had another operation ,and her return to Perth.what a fantastic read.
I usually go straight o the Sports page ,but this front photo .i had to read more.
Now to the back pages sports news,and straight up an article about Connor Blakely,on how he wants to stay at Freo and all the ramifications of maybe freo keep him,or how he has been advised to move on.A good article fromDuffield.
Then we go inside page ,and another article about "Dockers escape from Quarantine".
A fantastic photo of Lobb,Walters ,Blakely,Hamling,and Ryan ,sitting on the back of a boat,(I know Lobby has one this may have been his )absolutely enjoying them selves.to the right of that three more pics,Barra about to set off on his bike with his Missus,Ryan being led by his staffy for a run,and Logue Schulz and Acres enjoying bacon and eggs ,which I'm sure they enjoyed after so many home cooked ones.
Next we move on to the Womens team , an article about one of our new recruits taken at our first pick(14)Sarah Verrier,and her story and journey to become an AFLW player ,also they picked up Micayla Morrison from Swans and relisted Tiah Haynes who played for us in 2017 and 2018.
There is a couple of small articles about the mob up the road,but they brought a smile to my face.
The first how Mason Cox ,was copping abuse from the Wet toast cheer squad,so as he kicked each of his three goals in the first ,the squad ,was silenced big time,and never said another word.
The other one was about that show pony Ryan ,and how he showed the ball to Maynard after a mark.Maynard said he did not notice what he did much ,but the memes after the game made him laugh ,and he said well i got the last laugh.(Big photo on the back page )
So now it's 10.25 am ,I've finished another great read,i doubt it but i might peruse the Budget lift out ,as a pensioner it does effect me,i will enjoy the $500 dolls the government will give me .
I wont bore you with the crap about Trump,and other articles,because i decide to not read much about the political landscape from other countries.
Just a thought Polly and others how can you give an opinion if you don't read the paper,today's info i have given you ,to me was very enjoyable.

Of course the West is going to be more balanced when Freo are doing well and Longmuir is in the media honeymoon period.

That hasn't stopped Ch West Coast badgering him about the fate of certain players when the questions has been asked and answered many times already. Did you see Basil ever take Simpson to task - over anything?

Then there's Kim Hackdorn, the human rumour and shitstir machine at West media's sunday rag.

Yep, it's all balanced out.

Yep Drubbing ,i agree with you about ch7,Hackdorn,Basil and the Slimes ,but it won't stop me enjoying articles i have described ,in this mornings paper.
I agree with you about JL's honeymoon period ,and if things go pear-shaped ,yeh he will cop it .
It will be interesting when WC ,who many think the window is closing fast,and how the local press before has had a crack at them when over various issues whether they will get criticised as well.

I know they all come under the same banner,but it's your freedom of choice to read or watch .

Brilliant - why read the paper when a mate will do it for you. Thanks for that, what a champ - great run down, I'm ok with you missing the classifieds and all the finance stuff - after all, you can't ask a bloke to push on past 10:25am on another cracking warm WA day.

That $500 - ever considered a kegger? Then you can read the whole paper out loud to your mates while they chug on beer and consider all the news. Just a thought -

Well Polly ,a little bit tongue in cheek there ?
I don't usually read it that late ,but we had to do a run with the grandkids ,as my Daughter's car had probs,thus the late read.
But I'm glad you enjoyed the synopsis!
Also in the younger days a BBQ with a 18gal keg was the go,ahh memories of a long Sunday lunch,lucky enough to have great first up neighbours who all enjoyed a brew.
Also lucky that my neighbours were all returning vets ,one thing about Army service you certainly enjoyed a beer and we certainly carried on that tradition,lucky to have those neighbours for a good 15 years ,still great friends now.
I still love a beer ,but Bourbon is my main go now.

Thanks, for the update Frad and each to their own, but I can and have read all of that online anyway.

Their corny, attention grabbing headlines and the the fact that they now grab the vast majority of their articles from world online sources really turns me off. And that's before we get to the slime love fest!.

i don't really see it as a newspaper much anymore, more like one of those sensationalist rags such as The Sun in England or the old Truth(haha, which never was) who will print anything to valiantly try and hold onto their dying circulation, whether it is fact or not. The Dirty Pies headline is a classic example. To me they are really only a step or so above those magazines like New Idea, Who Magazine, etc, that you see while waiting at the doctor's surgery.

Yes, I remember the Sun. It was always regarded as little more than a bad comic, and has been sued regularly for decades. Practically invented the New Idea school of 'journalism'. Murdoch's gift to the world.

The West isn't that far off, and is the sort of rag that would love to pull out headlines like Natty Fyfe ate my Hamster.
