Pretty much was, though. However, I can now root for someone in the finals.

The Bulldogs almost threw the game away, but the umps made sure they didn't over throw the game.

If this wasn't the last game of the season I'd be calling for Acres to be dropped. Just so many basic errors. And the worst thing is that his name is crying out for some joke about space, but nothing is jumping out at me.

On the plus side, I think Henry could be very good.

Apologies if it has already been mentioned, but did anyone notice the 2 women in the crowd near the boundary on the outer wing?

Both wearing eagles guernseys..... I just don't understand.....

Yep, I noticed them - why do they always show up, they stood out like two deep drop bog houses on a cattle station.

DoD, since when has it been ok to throw the ball over your head in a simulation of a handpass? It has been illegal since Ted Whittens days to use the open hand to handpass. The only free for a throw was paid against a Freo player, while not making excuses, where is the consistency? The rules of the game are written out. If all umpires are reading the same book, they should all be umpiring the way the rules state the game should be umpired.

Watch the first quarter again and count the frees not paid for illegal disposal and holding the ball inside Freo's forward 50. And check out through the game, right up until the last quarter how many times the Bulldogs got away with throwing the footy directly over their head to a player behind them.

By the way, as an aside, I thought Darcy had a great game again.

RM watch any game of AFL and it is the same scenario with players throwing the ball instead of hand balling, it seems to be the new norm.

Whilst Im not prepared to sit down and watch last nights game again, I can recall late in the first quarter the free kick count was 5-0 in our favour. Clearly there were errors made by the umpires, but they impacted on both teams, and there certainly wasn't anything that stood out as a pattern of behaviour which would indicate an anti Freo bias. Overall I believe the umpires had a minimal impact on the outcome and after the first quarter or so, it looked like many of our players with the exception of Fyfe, Ryan & Serong were thinking about their post season holidays and this had a greater contribution to our loss than any of the umpiring decisions.

I agree though Darcy played a good game and is only going to get better for us.

DoD, i'm over the way commentators and administrators carry on about the spirit of the game, when it comes to interpreting the rules, because Freo always seem to be playing outside the spirit of the game. While you can't be bothered watching yesterdays game, you will probably be the first to scream "robbed" when a GF is decided by one of these interpretations. I don't see how anyone could believe Freo got the better of the umpiring last night or all season. Most coaches have worked out they can push the rules against Freo. similar to how Fitzroy & Footscray were treated back in the 70's and 80's, and no I didn't, I was a Pies supporter then.

No, but they found a set that looked a lot like them, not quite as good a fit though.

My guiding principle when evaluating the umpiring is to see how angry I get with them. If the answer is "not very", then I think that they probably favoured us a bit. And I really do think that they were kinder to us this season. But that might be the way we played as well. I remember watching the Hawks back in ~2005, and the umps really hated them. But boy did that turn around over the next few years.

Quasi, reckon I will rip the teeth out next weekend, just for old times sake, pity the game won't be at the WACCA, that would bring back some memories.
