Two things here.

i. There's weird sutff going down at GWS and they're not handling any of it very well, I'll give ya that, but...

ii. Didn't someone once get their employer to pay off another employee to make what you might call a humiliating case of sexual harassment just go away?

Yes, I am bitter on almost anything that bloke says or does and it will take me a long time to let it go.

Pavlich likes to tell that story about how Ross Lyon chewed him out in front of everyone for having a clean jumper on a wet day, and Pavlich had a good laugh when he told him that he had showered at half time and changed jumpers.

I've never liked that story because what Ross said is correct.

It was the media that humiliated Ross

And he wouldn't have seen his treatment of office staff as being within that maxim - only the players. Which was clearly part of his problem and the broader culture problems pervading the club before the clean out...

I think in this instance Lyon was referring to allowing an internal player performance/captain to play out in the media. I can’t recall Lyon being one to criticise or make public issues with a player. However this led to him to very rarely saying anything substantial about anything. By the end of his tenure I found this infuriating.
I much prefer Longmuir’s honest response to these concerns. If he’s asked a question about an individual he answers matter of factly and it’s dealt with no humiliation just honesty.

it is no better done in private, but reckon it’s part and parcel of old skool coaching - singling out players for a spray and going Barassi on them. Creates a culture of fear to drive “compliance”. I also reckon Lyon was in that camp, hence the inference I made.
