TOPIC: Why not?

Some of the very best players that have played for us have been off the rails at time ,

and there has been a couple , lucky we didn't sack them .

I still think just talking a young talented player wouldn't hurt to start with ?

Double standards from the club?

"It is our intention that the players will pay the fine," Tigers CEO Brendan Gale told ABC Grandstand on Friday.
On Friday, Richmond announced the two players would be responsible for paying their portion of the fine, which is $75,000.

The club said it would pay the other $25,000, which stemmed from a previous breach by the wife of captain Trent Cotchin when she attended a day spa.

"From my point of view it's been a mixture of anger, embarrassment, bewilderment. I know these actions are inconsistent with that we stand for as a club and the culture we've built on and off the field. We've lost a bit of respect and that hurts.

"It's been a challenging year, but that's no excuse for the mistakes that have been made.

"The actions over the past 24 hours have been inconsistent with that culture.

Captains privilige?

Tragic
Paul Peos, Sydney Stack's manager and the Players Association are apparently not agreeable to the players having to pay the fine. Apparently Steve Hocking has also weighed in demanding the fine be imposed on the Richmond soft cap, not on the players.

I don't think anybody has suggested (yet) that kebabs and strippers be moved into the quarantine zone.

In terms of Sydney Stack and the Dockers, a bit of due diligence, would not go astray. Ultimately, in the eyes of the law, his behaviour warranted an $800 fine. We have seen much worse.

I've been thinking about this and I still can't decide if I'm for or against getting him.

Against: Behavioural issues are not good for any club, particularly a club in transition. While not a deal breaker it's a definite red flag.\
Cost - ok if Richmond delist him but if he goes to the trade table we could wind up spending draft picks on a potential problem and no guarantee he'll play any games

For: Bringing him back home might have a positive influence and we could get a useful player.

As for the comments about him being highly talented, I think they're a bit over the top. If he was that talented, the tiggies wouldn't be talking about his playing days hanging by a thread. Football clubs don't go around getting rid of talented footballers*

Yeti, the original comment was "should we talk to him?" Starting from there, Longmuir and probably Roger Hayden would do no harm to the club by having a chat to him, he might need the support of mentors that he left behind in WA. They would be the best judge of that. I think he probably should have been sent back to WA by Richmond instead of to Melbourne, anyway.

He's clearly someone who should keep his distance from alcohol, which seems to be where all his behavioural problems stem from. It seems like he was put into the terrible environment for someone with his issues and if you're prepared to help him out and give him proper support, then I would think he's worth the effort. But sadly, I'm not sure Fremantle is the place for people who need a bit more assistance getting by. We've got a lot of work to do.

Richmond right now is feeling very much like West Coast circa 2005. He needs to get out of there.

Yeah Shane, our track record is pretty bloody amazing in that area.

Miss a flight and delist a 1st round draft pick. What could go wrong?

You would hope that with no Steves, no Roly and JLo's far more modern approach that improvement would be expected.

Watch this space I guess

Yep. I expect us to get much better but there's a long way to go.

The removal of the bloke now calling himself a "Human Performance Consultant" will be a big factor.

definitely double standards by the club, with the size of the fine likely to have been lower IMO if it weren’t for the earlier transgression by the captain’s missus.

the self-centred flagrant sense of entitlement when you should absolutely know better is the same, whether it’s a day spa or a strip club.

and yes to a chat and some due diligence, for sure.
