I wouldn’t go anywhere near this. Traveling sides will end up traveling to the MCG, then back, then some random venue, then back to mcg somehow. It’ll turn 1 flight into 5.
My personal preference is to do what the yanks do. Bid for the final 5 odd years out and that gives u time to get your stadium, civils and admin in order to host the thing properly. As we’ve been told for years, it doesn’t matter who’s playing, it’ll be a sellout. And I agree.
5 years gives the successful bidder a chance to upgrade their whole package to make it a capacity crowd, stops state govt having to outlay the funds to build expensive purpose built stadiums and gives a return on investment For upgrading stadiums.
Why should the mcg get all the benefit of that??
If the WAFL had half a clue, they’d get their organisation in order and be killing it this year.
