He should play next year. Even if he's not in our best 22, he's a very useful backup.
WC won a premiership with Will Schofield. Hawks won one with Matt Spanger. Older experienced players who can slot in and look at home straight away are very useful.

He should be the one on the outside kicking in to the forward 50, he is not a contested ball winner and it shows with the number of times his kicks get smothered as he is taking time he doesn’t have on the inside to work out the perfect option, put him 20 in the clear running down the flank.and watch our “connection” issues with the forward line disappear.

Completely agree PK. I don't think he should be playing half back. More value up the ground. We can't kick goals as it is and he's a guy who I think knows how to do that.

Hilly will be fine, just needs a few more games and another uninterrupted preseason.
If we have to lose more players from our list then I would think it's curtains for Matera, North, Blakely and Banfield they have nothing special to offer now and I would rather make room for more kids.

I hate having this discussion as Steven is one of my favorite players over the years but in our best 22 I don't see him getting a spot in defence as at times this season he's been a bit of a liability but I think there may be a future for him across the half forward line where he could offer some goalkicking potential if they can strip some of that muscle off him that seems to be weighing him down.

.you're leaving Logue, Hughes& Cox out

IF we pvercome the injuries, theres's no place for Hilly in the backline. We simply havevto play Young & Logue ...and Hughes and Cox are in the mix.

So, if he's to continue playing, then its got to be in another position, or, he's simply an experienced back up for an injured player.

There are some hard questions that will simply have to be answered at the end of the year.

I remember meeting Stephen as a 17 year old, he looked like a paper boy. Now 13 years later he's a 200 game player who has given his all.

2020 hasn't been his year and I'm very concerned he's gone past it. You only have to look at Buddy Franklin, he is also cooked.

Just because you have a contract, it doesn't mean you're going to get a game ahead of others.

Even if you did put Stephen on the wing, would he still have the same impact he did in 2013? Alas, I don't think so.
