I think people forget that half the genetics come from mums,
So dad superstar, marries awesome but not athletic ladies the probability of getting another superstar is probably pretty low. Superstar marries someone like Natalie Medhurst or Samantha Kerr I would think the probability of getting another superstar is higher.

Anyone know how heritable the sporting genes are?

A good example of your point Eggy, was the OConnell clan with champion ruckman John OÇonnell being succeeded by sons Michael and David at the Eagles. Their mum Pam was also a top athlete so their was always a good chance of a talented brood.

They have been "released from their training requirements".

Okay, so they don't have to train but they can still play? WTF does that mean? Doublespeak gobbledygook!

So far we've got rid of four players, the fitness bloke and two ass coaches before the season is out. Has any other club done anything similar yet, or at all. The slime certainly haven't.
Is it a sign of how badly cash strapped we are? All clubs are travelling to hubs but no-one else seems to be saying you're not required here or at the club anymore.

I don't know what other clubs are up to but this seems like the right way to do it. On the coaches, it's the traditional end of our season and preparations have to start for next year. And for the players, it would be cruel to take them over there when you knew they weren't going to play.

CA, hopefully it is more a case of us being a respectful club. The players won’t be required so why make them go through quarantine etc. Probably more a reflection of the year than our financial position..... hopefully.

And if we were that cash strapped, the club would still be sending those emails telling you what was happening in exchange for a donation.

I think it's more a case of making early and clearly tough decisions on cuts that are always required at the end of each season to make way for Draft selections, trade acquisitions and Rookie selections. Some of those delisted clearly fall into categories of players where we have multiple numbers of similar player types on our list.
We still have excess numbers of similar type players where some still in danger are Small forwards- Matera, Switkowski, Giro; Midfielders- North, Banfield, Valente; Medium/small defenders-Thomas, Pina; Tall forward/Ruck Dixon and Meek
Everyone else I think is safe and quite a few of those I've mentioned I would personally like to keep on our list and be given further opportunities but it's not up to me or anyone one on this forum to ultimately decide so I think there's going to be a few more fall by the wayside in coming weeks whether we like it or not.

I think on the coaches it was a reflection on our finances last year after having to pay out Lyon.

A new coach should be entitled to have input into his coaching panel, but financial pragmatism probably limited JLo’s choices in year one. If he and Bell have made a call on certain coaches (and fitness staff) then it makes sense to move on now given the hub and us bring out of the finals race.

The deal with the coaches association was that they needed to be told in the first week of August, obviously that may have changed this year as the season is going later than normal but with us relocating to QLD for the last month of the season, it makes sense not to force them to go. I am sure other clubs have also told their ass coaches who’s out but haven’t gone public yet, it would have been obvious for ours if they weren’t on the plane so is sensible to make a public announcement.
