Yeah, Gumnut, Jimmy took a similar approach to that of Robbie Muir in an attempt to allow Phil to display his talents, at Claremont and North Melbourne. I know Jimmy had his problems, but he really was hounded from his early days at Mt Barker, and should not (like Muir) be judged on what he did to stand up for himself, and more so, his brother and other Nyoongar players of all grades. When he was allowed to play footy on his terms, which was rare, he was probably one of the best players we have seen, it is a shame he was not given the opportunity to play every minute of his career free of the burden of racism.
As Robbie Muir said in his article, some Players, like Syd Jackson, Polly, Maurice Rioli, could put that racism to work in their favour, but not all could. We need to remember the Robbies, the Jimmy's and acknowledge their struggles all year, not just during Indigenous Round.
