In 1985 I queued up outside the entertainment centre for Dire Straits tickets, joined a queue at 5pm Friday tickets were to go onsale 9am Saturday by midnight the queue had grown so big they opened the ticket office at midnight, I got my tickets at 7am, 2 hours early. In 35 years we have gone backwards. ;)

I was with a mate, around 1am a bouncer offered to get us food from Fast Eddies, I gave him some cash and about 20 minutes later had food.

There was a massive brawl at the front of the line just before midnight when they opened the ticket window. I got tickets at 7am for concert 4 only a few rows from the front around 4am the same bouncer who got me food said they had counted the line and we would get the seats we got. The blokes did a good job keeping thousands of people informed just by walking around

I just lucked out. Didn't receive any notification from the club prior to the "window" opening and just on instinct checked in to Ticketmaster around 9:30 to find tix were available from 10am. THEN got a textfrom the club going on about the problem with the site and that they'd get back when the problem was solved - which didn't come through until 10.14, by which time I (and I guess most everyone) had already got their tickets.

But mustn't grumble...
